Lou Holtz stated that Death Valley was the most intimidating Atmosphere that he and his ND team ever played. Mentioned that they got beer, pennies and cups thrown at them were cursed and spit at once they took the lead and had the team bus rocked after the game. No mention of piss balloons so probably all lies.

Arute talked about leaving Mike outside the visitors dressing room and shocking him to get him riled up to scare the opposing team, that also sounds like its embellished I can't imagine them doing that I'm sure that kind of cruelty wasn't allowed even in the 1940's when Lou was a coach.
