What are the coaching search parameters?

Someone that’s a good fit for LSU. Someone that’s a proven winner that can lead this program. You have to be able to recruit, motivate, lead, deal with the media, deal with alumni and fans. You’re basically a CEO, and that’s what I’m looking for — someone that can lead us into the future and promote excellence. Our program has to be about excellence and winning at the highest level.

Goal for naming a new coach?

quote:

That’s an interesting question because it depends on how things go. I think it’s really hysterical how everyone’s predicting who the next coach will be. I’m doing my due diligence and my homework. Coaches at other schools could be coaching into January, so you don’t know how that’ll play out. If you go after a coach coaching in a big bowl game, is that coach going to leave him team before a bowl game? I don’t know … I sort of doubt it.

I remember later on in the season he released one that said something like "passion, motivation, recruiting" and dropped the "proven winner." Afterward you heard reports about the administration and Alleva being uneasy about $50-$60 million contracts to reel in a big time coach. It was around then I realized we were fricked.

What is the hiring process like for you personally?

It gets me excited because it’s the biggest part of my job. Hiring good people is one of the biggest parts, and in this case, the biggest part. Whoever we pick to lead this program going into the future is huge to not only the athletic department to the whole university and the whole state for that matter.

He says all the right things but does all the wrong things.

Honestly I think as soon as the offense looked competent during the Missouri game, Alleva had his sights set on O.

didn't you know: "Its NOT about the Truth"-- Joe Alleva during Duke Scandal, now title to book by Don Yaeger. See also "Until Proven Innocent" by Stuart Taylor Jr., "The Price of Silence", by William D. Cohan, and you will learn who Joe Alleva is.

Joe Alleva TOTALLY didn't throw a temper tantrum

quote:

"Only one candidate got an official offer from us and it was accepted this morning,"

quote:

"This thing was never going to come down to a bidding war. It was something that we knew that Coach 'O' is never going to play games with us. We know where Coach O's heart is, we know where his love is, we know where his passion is.

"When you hire someone, you want to hire someone who really wants the job. Really wants to be here."

So our AD is the second coming of Joe Dean, and his football hire might be the second coming of Curley Hallman.

History really is cyclical.
