I married Blaine's niece. My wife told me a story about Blaine working out with the Pistons. His brother, Scooby, is close with Joe Dumars from their time at McNeese. My wife said Blaine was out so of shape that he grabbed jerseys the whole practice, lol.

Ryan3232 .....a left wing liberal? You are a kid trying to be a keyboard warrior. Your childish behavior is shining through. You continue to resort to name calling. Your mother must have rocked you too much as a child. Go play little one.

If we're talking strictly high school level, then you need to add Edwin and Dino Daniels.. These guys were unstoppable at the high school level. Played on the best team in Louisiana at the time Walter L Cohen. Had every coach in the Country recruiting them from the Calipari, Pittino, Tarketon, and Dean Smith. One went to Louisville the other went to UNLV under tark. Both flamed out as headcases in college. Can't believe no one ever mentions these guys they went almost 3 years without losing a game. On top of that they win the tournament of champions championship.

The Daniels boys were amongst the best in the country. Crazy how much talent in the early 90's this state had in basketball. "Greedy" Daniels if I recall.

Yep Greedy is Ewin lol was one of the top rated players in the country. I just found the article he was ranked 25 and the second best pg behind Barron Davis.. Those guys literally were the reason I attend Cohen.. I was in middle school and said that's where I'm going. Plus it was my Grandfather's alma mata

I was a starting SG on a decent (playoff) 5A team for my senior year in '95. Our PG was a junior and had aspirations of playing D1 as he was scoring about 20 PPG after 10 games or so.
We played Cohen at the Sunkist Shootout in Lafayette. Our PG couldn't even get the ball up the court on Greedy Daniels (no press, just 1 on 1 full court D). Greedy has about 5 steals for easy layups in the 1st quarter and they were up by 20 on us at the half.
Just a couple of months earlier, we competed well against the tough Glen Oaks full court press (Lester Earl at top to double) in a summer league practice and thought we'd be a little better than we ended up that year. Our star tearing his ACL about two weeks before the season started didn't help.

Best of the rest for me: DJ Augustine, Shannon Foreman, Chris Duhon, Darrel Mitchell, Glenn Davis, Tyrus Thomas, Greg Monroe, Duane Spencer, Demond "Tweety" Carter, Tasmin Mitchell, Brandon Bass, Leonard Mitchell, Torris Bright, Clarence Moore, Tierre Brown.
Neil Reed vs Torris Bright in the Top 28 in BR, was a battle.

This thread gives me that 2002 Ken Ramsey kinda feeling.

That was another aspect of his game I clearly forgot about lol.. His game was so smooth and fluid. I know the state as a whole has had some great guards.. But hands down outside of Randy Livingston who I only saw a portion of his freshman year at lsu.. The other guys on the list would have been destroyed by him.. Torris bright definitely doesn't drop 64 like he did against Stromile Swift squad in the playoff that year..

Forgot about Neil Reid.. One of my favorite fr to watch at that time. Wished he could have finished out at Indiana.

Any of you guys remember Charles Hayward and Thomas Davis? I grew up watching them play in cenla and was just wondering how much they were talked about back then. Davis actually played for LSU for a while before dropping out iirc..

Should have signed the Jarreau kid who went to UMass

Billy Thomas from Loyola, who then went on to play at Kansas was one of the best I ever saw in person. Stromile was the best by a wide margin though.
