I got to say - these guys have been great - orel, ventura and mike patrick.

esp with orel, it's like going to baseball school. Why isn't this guy a coach? If I was coaching, i would be listening to these guys during the game for good observations.

I've learned more about baseball watching this series than I have in 50 years. Of course, other than watching a little LSU baseball starting late in the Skip Bertman era, i've never watched much baseball.

Those segments when he's "teaching" annoy the hell out of me.

Mike Patrick has been terrible actually if you have watched the whole series.

I agree. I like Orel's commentary.

He tries to discuss small techniques that most commentators do not focus on. It really is better than the canned lines about "Did you know Jared Mitchell plays football?"

I was not really a fan in his playing days because I didn't like the Dodgers, but I always respected him.

When Orel was teaching us something about both pitchers last night I couldnt help but find it hilarious. Just the face he made when he was in the windup at one point I burst out laughing

I always liked Harold Reynolds at the CWS. Too bad they can't replace Ventura with Reynolds.

I do too. He was right on talking about why Colemen was pitching better from the stretch because his foot straight against the rubber....interesting stuff.

I like Sean McDonagh (had the Warren Morris call) and Robin Ventura, with Kyle on the field.

Patrick is good, but he is getting into Verne territory. Lots of idle chit chat. It started with the Britney Spears stuff last year. Orel is good, but he is treating it as a MLB telecast. Too much of a Pro perspective, even though 90% of these kids will never play pro ball.

Erin Andrews is nice to look at, but all she does is gloss over shite like an Augie speech. Peterson actually gives you information like what Coleman was feeling or thinking.

Overall, they have not been bad. They give plenty of love to the Tigers.

Most of the crap that Orel talks about, serious baseball fans already know. It's good for the casual fan who's interested in these things though. His stories are Joe Morgan-esque though. "In my heydey, blah, blah." ETA: The story about the wet balls was pretty good though, lol.

Ventura is less self-aggrandizing. Above average.

Patrick is just a typical announcer; not great or bad in my book.

I'd rather mute the game and play 98.1 with Hawthorne, but the radio and TV broadcasts aren't synced up just right and it's frustrating.

No problem with Orel or Robin...But Mike Patrick has gotten so many names wrong or mis-spoken that's it's getting annoying. One inning he pronounces Mikie's name right..the next totally incorrect. I mean, does the guy have Alzheimer's or something? Short term memory loss is a sure sign.

Note: I didn't see it happen in last night's game but one against Arky.

Whoever Mike Patrick pleasured to get the gig over McDonough needs to be fired.

ESPN trains their guys to "fill the air" with talk. In baseball, sometimes a little broadcasting silence is cool.

Orel was OK, but I miss Joe Morgan at the CWS.
