A self respecting person would have decommitted to the team he was committed to.

A self respecting coach would have advised an already committed player to call the coach he committed to and tell him. it is only fair to the coach, the school and a player that could have possibly signed.

This will follow Strong no matter where he goes. His word is worthless now and other programs will ALWAYS use this against him. it may make it hard for him to find a position after his firing.
Administrators won't like it either because Texas is now known as a 2nd rate program that will lie and subvert to get attention.

Payback is a bitch Charlie. And to think I once wanted LSU to hire him as head coach.

This sounds like the Bernie Madoff movie I watched last night. Act like you do not want them then take them for everything they are worth.

I'm not saying I like it, or that it's right. Just saying I get the logic.

No give a sheet, mang.

Would rather Beckwith and his new "ponies" than a 5* kid from Texas with no class.

Karma's another beech too. Trust me. I've been on the receiving end of it in life; I think. She's always rears her ugly head; and is always a bitch, Mr. Fowler.

It sucks the way it went down but that's recruiting the way the ncaa has it set up, it happens every year and will continue to be that way when that age kid is being pulled in that many different directions
I really can't fault a kid for staying in state with the home school in this case and it's not like LSU didn't have an inkling he was headed that way

It is not the the choice to switch schools, it was how it was handled. After Fowler and his family said how LSU had been good to them and honest with them from jump, to not call Peveto the night before and give him a heads up is wrong and shows poor character. Might even give the staff the chance to offer someone else his spot instead of holding it open. No excuse for how it was handled.

My guess is Erick began regretting his decision the second they hit "send" on the fax machine. The difference between playing in that lame stadium they have in Austin and Tiger Stadium is day and night, literally. Also, he just realized his coach is the guy that asked him to not exactly commit until signing day. Again, I don't think it's dishonest as much as being a loser. Having a loser's mentality. No wonder they are where they are.

If this report is accurate, he is culpable...He could have told Strong, I am coming to UT but I can't go along with this approach...Just got caught up in Strong trying to make a splash at the expense of LSU...Torisio Davis says hi...

I think this is what will happen.

To be fair, when he went to Texas he laid down the laws to be followed...they all revealed around appearances only...nothing more. Sit in front of class, no ear rings, no headphones...blah, blah, blah.

All he talked about was superficial stuff like that and the need to WIN..

He never once indicated that he planned on carrying himself with integrity and honesty. I figure he can at least hang his hat on not being a hypocrite.

That what genius! Was a huge gamble, but still genius!

Your title is misleading as well. He said don't commit to Texas. Nothing in that article says, don't decommitt from your school.

Fowler would have had no problem with LSU staff or fans had he decommitted earlier.

That's the kind of coach you get when you hire a person like him. Gimmicks, smoke, and mirrors until the base finally figure out he's way over his head.

This stuff is what I expected when tx replaced a legendary coach with this idiot who won a few games at a basketball school because of ONE special player.

Fuk Strong. I hope those coksukers lose every game next year. And to think, I had some respect for that miserable POS.

You believe everything you read? No way he said "do not commit." He said keep your intentions to sign with Texas silent and don't decommit. Article is trying to spin it positively.

Erik (forgive the 18 year old) and his classless momma Jemima should have realized that other kids would have wanted that LB scholarship and we would have given had he not lied and tricked us. It hurt us and other recruits who went elsewhere and may have wanted an LSU offer. Charlie and momma pancakes have some karma to live down.

Who cares? They're still gonna get beat down. Their QB play is even worse than ours if you can believe it.

Probably just didn't want to give LSU a chance to put the heat back on...

no more than that I would guess

takes pressure of the kid and seals the deal for UT?

dunno...

deep down the kid wanted LSU, at least that's what I believe

People are blowing this out of proportion. He didn't say "commit to someone else, and switch in signing day". I read this as he didn't bring up committing to the kid or the family and then when they brought it up he said wait until singing day. He didn't know which ones they were getting either.
