re: Here is why Fowler didn't let us know. Strong told him not to

Yes, because LSU has never flipped a kid or ever done anything unethical. Some of you guys on here should go find the bully who took your nuts and fight to get them back.
What we think of the tactic is not really at issue, coach to coach and school to school warfare is fine. However, it is flat out immoral because of how it could impact some other kid who otherwise might have been offered that spot. Impact to either school aside, if kids' dreams' are caught in the middle, you've gone too far. That's my opinion on the matter.

Man there's a lot of sandy clit in this thread. Most people wish a man loses his job and never find another one. tRant is living up to the billing yet again.

In all fairness to Strong, the "legendary" coach left a fricking grease fire in his wake and acted like an egomaniacal baby when he realized he was on his way out.
Point being, Strong wasn't their first or second choice. We all now Saban was first. They had a chance to reverse course and create a "buzz", so.Omar to what happened at LSU.
What's done is done, but Strong just isn't the guy. If, and a big IF TX would have a good year or 2....he would leave for the NFL.

This is pretty low, even by recruiting standards, this is low. "You're coming to UT?! Oh that's great. No don't decommitt, just act like everything is cool and announce on signing day."

blame needs to be on Fowler. Strong didnt do anything wrong
I believe Fowler was going to be a Tiger but just had a last minute change of heart. I don't know if it was to make momma happy or if he just wanted to stay close to family and friends. Maybe Strong did sway him, but I don't see any shady stuff here. I don't believe Fowler or Strong was in on a plan to screw LSU.
With Janzen and McKnight they kindly rubbed it in our faces that they duped us. Fowler said he didn't know until he arrived that morning. If this was a "screw" to LSU plot why would he say that.
It is a 17 year old making one of the biggest decisions that will guide the direction of his life and probably their only true first big decision.
Some of you need to get a life and move on to something other than crucifying a kid that had no ill intentions.

Makes the recruits look bad. Bad policy, IMO

If OU hadn't suffered a major collective brain fart and Baylor hadn't been down to using a WR as fourth string QB, Charlie's arse would already be in the unemployment line!

What is missing here is that he was committed to LSU for almost a year yet he scheduled an announcement ceremony. Most people in that scenario scheduled signing ceremonies. There is more going on than what u want to believe. I also believe LSU knew more than they let on.
The screw job here was not LSU but the kid who wanted that spot but didn't get it...

The whole announcement ceremony thing should have alerted LSU's assigned recruiter to a major red flag in this recruitment.
That recruiter was BDP.

Not all strategies that work are admirable. This is a classic example.

Strong did it that way because he probably doesn't get giles if fowler de-commits. Giles winds up at lsu.

I honestly don't think I've ever seen a more appropriate username on this board.

It's kind of sketchy, but was a pretty clever move from Strong.
Posted on 2/5/16 at 1:33 pm to tigerskin
He had multiple reasons for not wanting them to commit. That was something he was wanting wayyyyy before the announcement. Fowler didn't even know until right before his announcement...in his own words.
You are totally misinterpreting what was said.
