Well, tyranns family has money. So paying one year of lsu isn't a concern.

Good to know. Seriously.

I know for a fact that I wouldn't have been able to pay for my education without a scholarship. My family had some drastic things occur while my sister and I were in college which affected our financial situation greatly (and they would definitely fall into what is considered the "upper-middle class" bracket, both now and then).

FWIW - My Mom's a High School teacher (Chris Faulk was in at least one, maybe 2 classes she taught) and one of my best friends was a Biology/Chem teacher at Rummel before she went back to Med School... Between the 2 of them - I've heard dozens of stories about students from every background imaginable and what they and their families have had to consider when it comes to continuing education (and I know that what I've heard is just a fraction of what they've seen).

Some of y'all are waaaaaaaaaaaay more presumptuous than you're accusing me of being.

Please stop assuming that I'm assuming anything.

You couldn't be making your world view more obvious by misinterpreting mine.

Are u saying parents will do whatever it takes to send their kids to a good school even if it puts them in a financially tough position? I'm not buying that for one sec. :obvioussarcasmisobvious:

Imo, the fact that Tm7 went to private school illustrates he has a solid family structure of some sort.

Yes. Absolutely. Even if it means using guerilla tactics to avoid a costly medical condition or forming an underground corporate espionage ring to ensure your employer doesn't downsize. Keep house fires to a minimum, etc... You know the drill.

ETA:

Silly me for thinking that suddenly not having a scholarship the week classes begin would even be an issue for the average student. I must be racist.

Tyrann went to st Augustine which is around 7k a year to go to.

I don't think one year of lsu is going to break the bank. Do you?

I wouldn't presume to know what kind of impact that would have on his family. I do know that my family and I would have been scrambling if I suddenly had to come up with the funds for tuition/room/board/books/meals when, up until the week prior, I thought was completely covered.

ETA:

Especially if your degree wasn't conducive to taking semesters off. Maybe your folks had that kind of change sitting around, but I'll bet a LOT don't.

doc, shut the frick up. This dude is not racist because he wonders whether or not somebody who has not been planning for it can scrounge up several thousand dollars in a few days. My family couldn't have done it either with so little notice.

Did your parents spend over $25k on your high school tuition plus the additional thousand here or there for extra curricular
Fees (football equip)?

That on itself should be enough reason to not assume paying tuition wouldn't be a problem.

No, there no overwhelming evidence that his family has the money just laying around but there is no evidence to the contrary. All signs, historical precedence and their family history shows it shouldn't be a problem.

Thinking it would os either presumptuous based off of your own family situation (which was admitted by pp), based mostly because TM is black or a simple lack of knowledge on how many options there to pay college tuition for one year.

Good grief you are wearing me out. I'm just saying that my family was pretty well off and getting a tuition bomb dropped on them the week classes started still would've been less than ideal (and likely would've resulted in my having to make some concessions in some form or fashion). Having money and having the ability to allocate it in an instant is not a luxury that all folks have.

My whole point I was getting at when I first posted in this thread was: I was hoping he'd be able to continue his education uninterrupted despite the loss of his athletic scholarship just as the semester got underway. I was pleased that LSU addressed the fact that he was still welcomed as a student and hoped that if there happened to be any financial issues stemming from the loss of his athletic scholarship - It could be worked out.

Why is that very straightforward sentiment so difficult for you to take just as it is?

ETA:

I'm done in this thread. I'm trying really hard to assume maybe you aren't the debilitatingly obtuse slapdick you seem to be.

Tyrann lived with his aunt and uncle and they are not poor. He would be eligible for Student Loans, Pell Grants, etc.

One year would not be a terrible burden.

I am not suggesting he is staying. Nor, am I saying this is a 'nothing' expense. But, the cost will not be what determines the future.

What does your family have to do with tyranns?

They can obviously afford the tuition seeing as how they sent him through st aug at 7k a year

So anyone assuming he couldn't get the money is based on what? Their own personal situation?

Again, what does that have to do with the price of tea in china?

plus, I think people forget about this novel concept called a "student loan". I'm sure with his future, Tyrann could manage to get a few grand for tuition and living expenses.

Aren't there deadlines for applying for financial aid? At the college I work for, a student could not walk in two weeks before classes start and apply for help. The forms have to be filled in months in advance...and if TM's guardians aren't 'poor', they likely will not qualify for federal grants such as Pell Grants.

Back to the fraud that is Glen Gilbeau for a moment....are any of you on twitter? If so, please ask him this....since he is taking such a moral stance in the drug policy "manipulation" because he allegedly has someone on the record using the terms permanent and ineligible, does he actually have anyone on record saying the dismissal/suspension is even due to something related to the drug policy?

There's always payment plans etc

I don't see why everyone is freaking about about lsu tuition. It's really not a big deal with his family I'm sure.
