no. I think he went with the hot hand.
If the situation presents itself, he will use Ott.

He warmed him last night and was ready to put him in in the 9th if needed. But Berry was doing a good job and had the Runts completely off balance.

but berry got to finish which means he is our #1 closer now. No need to have too many closers hanging around

Berry did well last night but I wouldn't write that statement in stone.

Berry shutting down a light-hitting OM bunch is nice, but no reason to don him the closer just yet. He'll need a couple more solid outings before that would even be remotely official.

You and a few others need to give up on posting.

I think this is the correct answer.

I don't think Ott will automatically be put in to start the 9th the way he was earlier if he has a guy on the mound who is pitching well.

But, Ott will be the guy if any trouble occurs.

i think he's been reading the rant. must have seen all the bitching when he put in Ott in the 9th vs Florida.

Hopefully Ott gets back on track. we're gonna need Berry for middle inning relief. we dont need our starting pitchers going 115+ pitches every outing.

Would you put in Ott with a 1 run lead? Not at this point in the season.

this thread's not about what me, you or any other rantard would do. But PM.

Ott was ready to go if Berry got in any trouble last night. If KB would have got in a jam, PM would brought in Matty w/o thinking twice.

yall forget who our all time save leader is? we need to get Ott back on track if we wanna play n late June.

I dunno what's going on between Matty's ears and between him and Grewe/Mainieri, but I hope the kid figures it out before he becomes next year's Daniel Bradshaw.

Seems like he's thrown a lot of fastballs with 2 strikes and ahead in the count. I'm NOT coach, but I feel like his best pitch in an 0-2, 1-2 count is his slider. Not an 85 mph fastball. I realize it's also situational, etc... but he's given up a TON of 2 strike hits on fastballs

If PM has given up on Ott ..then shame on him. He's coached for 29 years and has one CWS title. Ott is part of the reason he has that one CWS title. Should we give up on PM because he hasn't produced in the last two years? I think not. Baseball is a tough game and players and coaches need to stick together to make it work. Nothing a little confidence on the coach's part can't correct.

I think that PM remembered what happened against Florida when he took Eades out after his 1 inning when he SO 2 of the 3 outs. Instaed of going with Eades he put Ott in and Ott gave up the 2 runs to fall behind.

Well, there you have it. Thanks for the memories, Matty!

Ott will probably get one more shot to close a tight SEC game. If he blows it he will probably become a 6th or 7th inning type reliever.

"Given up" is too strong. I think PM realizes Matty's lost something from what he had as a Fr.

Doesn't need to risk wins ubntil he's convinced Matty's getting it back.
