That sucks for his family. But plenty of families have to make it work for one year. He could have been a second rounder with a year under Wade.
His family may be a tax burden on the country and state. If he can fix that, then he should do it.

Anthony Randolph. Phenomenal player that bombed in the NBA.
Dude is still playing in Spain making 6 figures.
Props to him having an awesome job and traveling the world.

However, making 6 figures and traveling the world isn't as nice as making 7 or 8 figures a year, while traveling the world on your off time.

FWIW I've heard from someone in the program that Blakeney's family is fine financially so it did not factor into his decision

hear you. I just think it's sometimes easy to say "make it work for a year" than it really might be.
If they made it this far they can probably make it another year, especially if it meant he'd potentially make a lot more money waiting another year.

This is 100 percent correct.

14th pick in the draft which means he had a guaranteed 4 year contract to make a few million right out of college. No where near the same situation as Blakeney. Randolph would have been an idiot to stay. You don't stay on school if you are a sure fire first rounder.

Why do we believe it was blakeney's decision to leave? I am a firm believer that Wade asked him to leave. AB couldn't shine the shoes of the guys Wade is bringing. Very excited to see that Wade has cleaned house.

you're an idiot if u think wade ran off OUR best player! that's just borderline stupidity on your part
Posted on 7/7/17 at 7:56 am to AlecRock23
They guys Wade has brought in and recruiting are worlds apart better than blakeny.

no! u can't teach blakeney's scoring ability! he gets so high up on his jump shot! everybody wade brought in are great no doubt but they are def not worlds apart better than blakeney

This is 100 percent incorrect.
How some of you can just make up bullshite and then believe the bullshite you literally just made up astounds me.
Blakeney's plan was always to be, at most, two and done. The coach who recruited him left. The opportunity to make it to the league through the D League appeals to him more than another year of getting paid nothing in college. He saw Tim Quarterman make $500K last year taking the same path.
He made a decision. He played hard for a 2-16 team, stayed out of trouble, and scored a bunch of points. Good for him, and good luck to him at the next level.

These kids are taking advice from the wrong people.

Exactly, AB never intended to be here long, and it's not like players don't develop in the G-League.

His family needs to get their shite together and not mooch off their son for a living. We are in the Age of Entitlement.
