This year probably not. Although I'll eat my own butt if this team can win out.

As long as Saban wins NCs with our most hated rival? YES.

Sorry, I phrased the question incorrectly. I should have asked, is a NC the only acceptable RESULT?
I too agree that a program like LSU's should always have lofty goals.

If lsu doesn't win the west, it's a failure. I'm sure the players think this as well.

I think this is what gets most ppl on here. As long as he keeps hoisting trophy after trophy. There will be that segment which will bitch and complain that the sky is falling at LSU. And our demise is near etc. Rather than enjoying the fact that this has been overall a pretty good run for our team over the past decade and half practically.

Yes, Cotton and CFA bowls would be more fulfilling if Bama wasn't winning NCs.

Bingo. Due to the salaries if the coaches, the expectations are through the roof before a down is played on the field.

Not saying it a right or wrong, but that is how a lot of people feel that I talk to.

I would say that it has been a possible result over the last six years, which is unusual, and for LSU, extraordinary considering the longer history of the program.
There is a huge difference between the possibility and having it actually happen. You understand that. Bama's run has just been extraordinary, and they will look back on it longingly some day.

Absolutely. Why would I ever be ok with mediocrity?

Why wouldn't it be? I want to win every year and it has been this way since Miles has been here. Why would I want to settle for mediocrity?

And I think the main reason the got it done and miles did not is attention to detail and coaching against the perfect game, which Saban is the master at. Most folks think Saban is being an arse when he chews punters out for bad kicks when up 44-0. I think he never looks at the scoreboard but for perfection on each play. Difference tween being great and good. One is there now, the other will never achieve it. In a way, the two coaches match their fan base. Most of ours are ok with good, BAMA's wants to be great at all costs.

Who do you think could be our next Saban? Everybody wants one, and there are more than a few programs that could pay more for one than we can. Would it be better to remain very good or take a huge chance on a new coach, probably fail as so many other programs have done, and live with long-term mediocrity as a result? (Think Auburn as just one)
That is a question I am not sure how to answer.

You are a fricking idiot. Period. Miles has the second best win % in SEC HISTORY. better than spurrier, better than saban. Saban and bama lose a game every year while playing an easy schedule but you talk shite about Miles losing games. Get a grip on reality boy.

Not really. I don't have many illusions of winning a championship again, that chance disappeared in 2011. I'm more realistic now and expected 2-3 losses this year (and every year)

Just can't seem to put an offense together with the defense to be a championship team. Expectations lowered.

NC is all that matters to me. who gives a crap about the SECC? Yay, we won the SECC in 2011 and that season was a colossal disappointment.

Not me, I understand how hard it is to reach that mountain. However, I think it's a reasonable goal to expect a SEC CG appearance year in and year out.
