I know there a few of you rantards that actually do have insight into the program and/or sources on the inside.

With that said, are any of you with sources hearing anything about Harris' development? All those of us on the outside really hear is that he's taken a bigger leadership role, blah, blah, blah.

I want to know how he looks throwing the ball and commanding the offense. We need him to step up his game if we're going to pull off this magical season many of us feel is coming. All the other pieces are there.

Going to have to wait to next Saturday to have any meaningful info. Practice BS talk is worthless when it comes to QB

Can anyone really know until he is faced with game time speed and pressure?

The things that seem to be kept being tossed around is he has been good not great. So some improvement but don't expect Mettenberger 2013.

I think Harris will fall somewhere around a 145 QB Rating this year. He was 130 last season. Noticeable improvement but not like a Top 10-15 QB in country good.

I think we can all agree he's seems intelligent and coachable (unlike JJ). Also the kid has worked hard and bulked up. All that makes me believe he's better and will do damage as a runner as well. I'm behind him 100%

This could change the way people think about Harris, as well as make our offense much more dangerous. The guy can run. It seemed like nearly every time he kept it on a read option, he gained a first down.

Got to do more of that.

I agree, but he hesitates so much and avoids contact. I'm not saying he needs to fight for an extra yard every time, but he certainly needs to run with a little more purpose sometimes. Dont be afraid to go for the TD when we're so close instead of settling for a FG.

We need him moving out the pocket. He does a much better job and seems to be a lot more comfortable when he is moving and not sitting back in the pocket.

If we can get some improvement from defense and special teams this might be enough progress on his part to win the SEC as a possible one or zero loss team and make the playoff.

I agree 100%. In the last 2 times we won the SEC (2011 and 2007) we didn't have very good QB play in either case.

My recollection of his play last year is that he made the right reads and threw to the right receiver regularly. However, his passes were often off target, difficult for the receiver to handle, and limited opportunities for receivers to gain yardage after the catch. I'd be more than happy if Harris shows some improved accuracy since I think he already makes good decisions.

That improvement is all you need from him.

Yeah, it would be huge if he can work on those short passes, including the screens. Often he would throw so damn hard and they had trouble handling it.

That seems like something that can easily get better with experience so I think he will be improved there.

The progression of most quarterback from a first-year starter to second-year starter is most often seen in completion percentage. Even mediocre quarterbacks tend to improve completion percentage at a pretty good clip in their second season as starter.

If he can go from 52 percent to even 58 percent completion percentage the offense can be considerably better.

I really think Brandon Harris is going to be a very pleasant surprise.

Even though the rant doesn't like it LSU is still a power running team and a very good power running team at that. You don't go away from that in the overall offense you just improve in the areas around that and you will be fine. Harris at 60+ percent and 50+ percent on third downs and LSU wins the West.

handling in-game pressure with confidence and leadership while being able to deliver the ball with touch...with improvements in all 3, I see no reason that Harris can't be All-SEC

Per Matt Moscona relying on his sources yesterday--
Harris looked good in the scrimmage against the third string (practice squad), but against 1s/2s he was a little underwhelming.
Take it for what its worth, and a small sample size against a phenomenal defensive group.

Our defense is going to make a lot of QBs look like garbage this year

Right, in either case, except for 2007.
