I like this quote from Ridley in Times Pic

"The only people who play around here are the people who put in the work."

The players know who deserves to play better than we do.

So which teammate(s) is he taking a shot at?

My guess is Ford and Lee since that is who most are calling for right now.

I like Ridley, but the dude needs to learn to keep his mouth shut.

It's like anything else in life. Les is a boss and he is gonna play who he has more confidence in, who he feels gives him the best shot to win, and who he feels comfortable with. Les and all coaches are human. They make mistakes sometimes and they play the wrong player. It could be for any number of reasons some may even be legitimate. Hopefully it doesn't happen too often.

Yea, I forgot this is the rant; and Ridley doesn't have the right to express himself. GTFO

I doubt you are anywhere correct when you assume he is talking about a particular teammate.
Especially:

Nah. As long as you speak the truth then there really is no reason to shut up. This isn't some amazingly ridiculous philosophy that Ridley is making up. Hell, the coaches probably say this ALL the time.

He said he wasn't surprised Blue was the third back. The team knows he's been running with the 3's.
Just a reminder of what Mora said, you don't know, you think you know, but you'll never know.

Lots of us are calling for Ford and Lee. Good news, if they are the hardest working guys, they'll play.

I wasn't calling out either Ford or Lee, and after reading the entire article, he basically is implying his teammate isn't working hard enough to deserve to play.

Ridley needs to shut up, because its not his place to be calling out a teammate 2 weeks into the season publicly. Sorry if some of you like this, but as a former coach, I'd bench a player for openly talking negatively like this about another teammate. He didn't need to bring up the hardER working shite.

That is something that should come from only the coaching staff, not players.

How? He never said names, and he really didn't say anything offensive, just motivational. People have been wanting a leader, well there's a prime example of one. A leader motivates other players when they aren't working as hard as they should be. You should know that if you are actually a coach.

I just don't see it as calling out another player.

and I'd disagree with benching a player that is obviously taking a mentor role with the younger players.

but to each his own.

My thought is that it's good to know that the players, or at least Ridley, think you earn your way on the field.

As a former high school bball coach I think I'd probably tell him to keep some stuff in-house, but I'd be glad that he thinks hard work pays off.

Given the current day PC world of interviews chances are low that he would have made such a statement. It is more likely that the two quotes were taken out of context and placed next to each other to make it seem like he was referring to Blue/Ford.

On a related matter - The current day stifling PC talk has made us critical of anyone making any true/relevant/sensible statement. As long as it is not an unnecessarily harsh statement or crude/derogatory , then it should be taken in the right spirit of merely speaking the truth.

Speaking frankly is much preferred to trite platitudes about the great attitude of everyone on the team.

He's not taking a shot at anyone..he was asked a question and quotes shouldn't be read or posted out of context.

Denard Robinson comes to mind. He was MUCH more obvious when he called out Forcier over the summer. Guess what? He's backing it up on the field. So far, so is Ridley. Rumble on, son...rumble on.

so you're gonna sit here and tell me JJ is "outworking" the other QB's?

that goes against every rumor that's ever come out

The alleged "PC talk" has got nothing to do with this thread. If you want interject political content then you should just go to the Political Talk board. I am sure you'll find other right wing zealots like yourself there.

It's a cumulative matter he's talking about here. Ridley is telling you seniority plays for Les. Ridley is a Negatiger!!!

WTF is wrong with your narrow comprehension of the current day language and its usage!! - PC has gone beyond "political" connotations to mean anything that can and cannot be uttered for fear of hurting/annoying/distancing anyone.

If you are uncomfortable with using 'PC' - then let me rephrase it - it is stifling if people have to tippy toe around any topic lest they offend anyone else' feelings by speaking the truth.

we don't go to the practices but we do see them on the field and on tv. and for what i see ford is contempt with upperclassmen playing in front of him. i'm not saying dats a bad thing but the coaches might be taking him for granted. believing dat he will be there whenever they call his number and he will have no problem waiting to play.
