He never said names, and he really didn't say anything offensive, just motivational. People have been wanting a leader, well there's a prime example of one. A leader motivates other players when they aren't working as hard as they should be.

I agree with this. Ridley did exactly what a leader should do.

It's been no secret on this team. The only people who play around here are the people that put in the work. And whoever puts in the work, they're successful in what they do and confident in their reads, that's who's going to play.

This is just a WAG, but when Ridley says "work", I believe he's referring to the process of learning LSU's plays (i.e. homework). Anyone who cannot consistently evaluate the defense and adjust their responsibilities accordingly, won't play. That's my take. Again, disclaimer: WAG

He might not even have meant anything other than a standard bland reply - it is unfortunate that many reporters/editors tend to rework such plain articles to provoke interest and discussion.

Exactly.

Also, we don't even know what the question was that he gave that answer to.

I think it is completely jumping to conclusions to assume he's "calling out" certain players when you don't even know what the question in the interview was.

So let me get this straight. You rantards jump all over Les' a$$ because he beats around the bush when answering a question. You want him to answer it clearly and directly. Now Ridley does just that: Answers a question frankly and honestly. And now you want him to shut up? Wow! Just Wow! Some of you people never cease to amaze me.

Maybe your statement explains why you are a former coach.

stretch

Keep trying though. You'll come up with some valid criticism at some point.

I am not judging Ridley's comments one way or the other, but you can't equate the way a coach should address the media to a player. Totally different.

Speculation and innuendo only hurts people. Once again NOLA needs to cover their own issues rather than worry about LSU.

Maybe Blue played over Ford because he is better.

Maybe?

And I like Ridley and hope he continues to lead the team in exactly this fashion, him having a pretty good game gives him the validity to lead this offense. An offense that desperately needs a leader.

As a former coach of seven year olds who went 1 and 5 (I had two great assistants who I had taught years before), my opinion means absolutely nothing here; however, I didn't see this as dissenion on the team or calling somebody out. I do agree with a previous poster that it is hard to tell from the article how, where, or when the comment was made. The comment is clear, but the context may not be.

He certainly could have left the comments to himself, but they don't seem inflammatory. It does bring up something, though, that I have often thought but seldom see on this board. The coaches see these people every day, and your work ethic shines through. I don't believe Ford's work ethic or his ability are poor after watching some of the spring game. I think his chance will come, like Coach Miles said, down, distance, and circumstance will manifest themselves. And in that peculiar set of events, Ford will rise to the occasion.

This can be a Pollyanna view, especially on this board, but I believe all things work toward the good. Patience is not usually a strong facet of a young player's personality. I would want to play, too. Who wants to practice incessantly and never touch the ball or set foot on the field?

I wsas more impressed by what Ridley said about reinforcing Alfred Blue's success and minimizing his mistakes. I may be wrong, but I think a business, a school, and even a football team tend to mirror a boss or a coach's personality. I sometimes think we make too much of overt comments as a means to determine leadership. I think a group will always have at least one leader. It's the function of personality, and how people rise to an occasion. Quiet leaders or vocal leaders are still leaders, but do they lead by example? Out of 100 players, you have 100 hundred personalities, assuming of course that no one has that rare multiple personality disorder. God forbid that we have a "Sybil" on the team unless that player is channeling Gale Sayers or Dick Butkus or Jack Tatum.

I feel good about the team, and I kind of likes what he said.

So which teammate(s) is he taking a shot at?

None. He is just repeating what he hears from the coaches every day.

My guess is Ford and Lee since that is who most are calling for right now

What a joke. Ford is 5th string. He is not addressing him in any way. Lee and Stevan were roomates and good friends. They have played together on the second team for the last 3 years.

I like Ridley,

No you dont. Youre post history shows well over 100 posts bashing him.

If you have a problem with what he said then you are proabably not a hard working person. Big problem in today's society people want everything given to them. F that. I love what he said.

I agree, but if the article was written in the same sequence Ridley said it he was giving reasons for why Blue started over Ford, which is he out worked him. Either by learning the playbook or working harder in practice.

Surprised since Ford looked so good in spring game and I heard he was a demon in the weight room...????

like, hard working in practice?

good thing our coaches in high school didn't have that mentality or we would have never won state. They put the best players on the field, even if they were lazy in practice. The hard working ones that weren't as good were used as leverage by the coaches during games..."if you don't pick it up out there, i'm going to put so-and-so in, lord knows he's earned it!!!"

and if you're a senior you've obviously done more work over a longer period of time than a freshman hence senior playing more than freshman
