Clapp will be just as solid at C. Trust me. He's actually a little better built for C. Brumfield is better than boutee so that will be improvement. We return two T's who played a lot last year so they should improve. We're ok on oline. Usually when we think weee gonna be bad on the oline we are suprised and visa versa.

I have very little faith in O to run this program...but the fact is LSU recruited on par with OSU and FSU the past 4 years(rankings tied at #2 for all 3), and obviously a step behind bama.

This team is plenty talented to win 11 games. But the experience might not be there. Its all about Canada getting the most out of etling(that's a tall task) and some young talent stepping up at oline or WR.

Defense will be salty as usually. We may give up a few more yards this year, but I think we cause more turnovers.

If we go 7-5 after the recruiting classes of 5,7,2,and 7....that will be a complete failure.

That wasn't what having a changing of OC did, that is what having two top 10 NFL RB picks did. Guice put up 285 yards and 4 TDs vs TAMU, Fournette put up 310 yards and 3 TDs vs Ole Miss, and both Guice and Fournette combined for 394 yards and 5 TDs vs Arkansas. Don't forget 418 rushing yards vs Mizzu by doing absolutely nothing fancy.

Fournette's first 7 carries vs Ole Miss went for 264 yards. What does that have to do with the change in OC? Guice had two 250+ yards games, Fournette had three 220+ yard games the year prior. In one game he had a 79 yarder called back that would have put him over 300 rushing. In another game he had 223 yards with 7 minutes left in the 3rd quarter and sat down. Did the same vs USCe with 160 yards with 10 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. He had 180 vs UF. Miles and him chose not to run him any more, that's your answer for him not destroying record books in 2015 (even though he did a bit).

LSU had 624 total yards vs USCe in 2015 along with 638 yards vs Texas Tech. They had 508 vs Ole Miss and 485 vs Auburn. Harris had 3 TDs vs UC and Bama, Etling had zero. STOP ACTING LIKE THEY WERENT DOING THIS shite IN 2015.

Bravo sir. But they have fingers in their ears.

Just hope canada is as good as everyone says he is.

Canada can certainly help a lot, but as someone who roots for a team that has had atrocious Oline woes for 5+ years, there is only so much that can be done. You don't really realize how important the OLine is until you have an OL unit that is bad. LSU oline will likely perform adequately,
It was average last season with Pocic. No Pocic and an injured Clapp = disappointment and not as good as we had all hoped.

Not many on here understand the concept of having to put the cart before the horse.

It all comes out in the wash this season and O finally makes a move after the season is over to upgrade the OL! Might have to suffer a few growing pains this year until it becomes all too apparent what has to be done................

It was better than average. While I will admit the OL doesn't have the depth it should have, to say it was average is not true.

Coach O hasn't done anything that would cause me to lose faith in him, but so far he's done a lot to allow me to have faith. Coach has recruited well, Coach O has hired well, his next step is to win! 2 or 3 loses max, plenty tough rode games, but I still say 2.

But I've watched enough LSU and enough football to know that more likely than not we're looking at an 8-4 or 9-3 type season, and if it's going to turn it's more likely to come in below that than it is above. You and others on here are in denial.
I've watched and played football my whole life and literally all we need is offense that's it. LSU has been in the top 10 hell top 5 recruiting numerous of years talent is there all Canada has to do is use it

Dc, I think your observation that our offense has the least talent in a long time is off. Way off, in fact. The QB is the best we have had since Flynn, if Clyde gets healthy, our 1/2 punch at RB will be sensational, our receivers will be strong, and our OL MUST stay healthy - we have about 8 kids ready on the OL to win. Offense will be fine.

Gosh the mention of Mett brings back memories of 2013.

How on earth can you have Mett, Hill, Landry and OBJ and not be in the top 30 in total offense. It is a rhetorical question but damn.

Never mind having all 4 in 2012 and being ranked 87th

Yea draconian sanctions is a super pessimist . The offensive lines depth is a bit worrisome as is the receivers experience, but both units are uber talented. Get off the side of the bridge man , it's gonna be ok . We might lose a couple games but we are gonna be fun to watch finally.

I agree on turnovers. We had one of the lowest margins in a while. Now that Aranda has had a full season and offseason to implement his scheme I think he will attack more. We also have what is arguably a better front 7 so we will likely get more pressure which should translate into more takeaways. We will miss Tre White, but I think Jackson and Tolliver have gotten their confidence back and will play up to expectations this year. According to one of the posters who was at the last scrimmage, Jackson "climbed the ladder" and made a nice INT on Etling's pass to Chark during the hurry up. Apparently it was a good play vs a bad pass. The same was said about Delpit jumping a route for the pick six.

I'm hoping it's more great D play vs poor QB play and considering Etling never threw 2 INTs in a game last season, I will give him the benefit of the doubt. he's earned it.

i think there's good reason to be concerned about the offense. our talent on that side of the ball is as low as i have seen it in quite some time.

O Line and QB are average
If someone disagrees with this assessment they really need to take off the purp and gold glasses.

Yeah, classic coping mechanism for people like that. If LSU goes 7-5, he gets to say, "See, told you guys." But if LSU finishes 10-2 or 11-1, he'll be, "Hey, look- I love LSU more than anyone and I'm happy to eat crow on this one." It's a can't-lose for guys like this.

Etling is in the same mold as Jefferson, Lee, Harris. Just average. We will see if his health was holding him back.

We are dropping off HUGE, an injured unproven freshman doesnt scare anyone.

our receivers will be strong,
based on what? A whole platoon of receivers that doesnt have 25 catches between them?

We are already in the hole there with the departures, what is here is pretty average and little behind them.

What does this mean. It is just an opinion. There are valid concerns all over the offensive side of the ball.

No. But maybe with a SECT and a win over Bama, he can at least pass up Jefferson.
