You don't have to sit out a year if you go down in division.
If you stay within the same division or move up you must sit a year (outside of the grad school deal)

Didn't the article say that he was going to play on the off. line at ACU?? Maybe LSU had the same idea and he didn't like the position that he was in at TE or OL. Easier to play now while learning a new position.

Why would he sit on the bench for two seasons? Gordon is a senior and with how big Shipley was, it was obvious he was the next blocking TE. Maybe he didn't want to be just a blocking TE though, and that's understandable. The guy was a 300lb TE, what did he expect?
