Miles offered him for a reason. So I'm confused.

Eta. Plus you can shave so many players off, but you can still only sign 25 to 27 players. I don't get it.

What makes you think its Miles that is pushing him out?

Kid probably got a good look at his competition to be a starting TE for the Tigers and thought he would be better off somewhere else. I don't think this hurts us and hopefully this means we get another scholly for this year?

"Homesick".

We are talking about 18 year olds, not 10 year old summer-campers.

Salmon, when/if you went to college; did you miss home?

Homesick can happen at any age. Especially if you don't like where you're at.

Yeah that's a pretty dumb comment. You don't think 18 year olds can get homesick? How many times have you heard of a kid going far away for college to end up right back at their local school. More times than I can count.

The guy is from a small town so I would guess that he just didn't feel comfortable at a larger school. Combine that with the fact that he wasn't going to be seeing the field any time soon and I'm sure Abilene Christian felt like a better fit to him. It still annoying that he took up a spot in last year's class to figure all of that out.

Yep, I saw plenty of guys that missed home. It usually had to do with either:
Failing: only the. Did they call it home sick because they did t want to admit they failed
A girl
Mitigating circumstances

Not too many scholarship football players.

He was a 6-5 290 lb tight end that needed two years to be an OT.

Homesick with no talent: Abilene Christian.
Homesick with talent: a d-1 school nearby, if you are indeed homesick.

Dumbest quote people routinely fire off on this board without any knowledge of the situation.

can he play this year by transferring to Abilene Christian? if he transferred to a FBS he would have to sit out a year.

I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in Austin after a brief stint in Abilene.

The Shipley family bleeds burnt orange, so I was a bit shocked when he signed with LSU.

It is no shame to sit the bench for a year or two to get your education underway and develop in your position. Some kids want instant fame on the field but in the long run may be better served by learning how to balance school and athletics to have success in both. That's a difficult job in itself.
