The seeding for the top half of the teams followed a proper course. Top seed Oklahoma got 4 Utah and 6 UCLA. Second ranked LSU got 3 Florida and 5 Michigan.

The pattern suddenly veered and LSU got 8 Alabama while Oklahoma got 7 Denver. Oklahoma then rounded out with 11 Washington and 12 Oregon State. LSU gets 9 Georgia and 10 Nebraska.

It would seem if the process was followed LSU should have gotten Denver and Washington with Alabama and Nebraska shifting to the Oklahoma bracket.

Georgia and Oregon State seemed to be in the proper spots.

Is this seeding followed every year or was this an abrupt departure?

I based my comments on the release from the communications on lsusports.net. Is this a later release?

I should say, Denver was 9 going into yesterday. The brackets were already set prior to yesterday's scores.

Either the news release on lsusports.net is not accurate as they have Georgia 9 and Denver 7 or the brackets are not consistent. The assignments began with LSU getting the odd numbered teams and Oklahoma getting even numbered then at 7 it changed.

This may be the usual protocol but it does not seem balanced.

Here is a link to the bracket. As you can see on the bracket the seeds almost played out as planned.

The bracket is correct, if you look at it compared to like a March Madness bracket and compare how the numbers are laid out of the seeds within the bracket it's still mirrors the way this bracket was laid out for gymnastics

Ok, if the plan is to keep each half of the bracket intact regardless of who advances.

The lsusports.net article is very inaccurate. It stated:

In Semifinal II, LSU will compete against No. 3 Florida, No. 5 Michigan, No. 8 Alabama, No. 9 Georgia and No. 10 Nebraska. The first Semifinal features No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 4 Utah, No. 6 UCLA, No. 7 Denver No. 11 Washington and No. 12 Oregon State.

The only correct seeds are the top four, the rest are wrong.

Yes this is correct because the bracket was drawn up prior to the regionals and will flow through with no realignment. The LSU article was partially wrong. It kinda reordered the teams after regionals and tried to make it fit, but the bracket was layed out on RQS prior to regionals and stays as is

Regardless of how the brackets are laid out they need to get to Saturday and the six teams all start from zero. Oklahoma is the obvious favorite. So was the UCONN women's basketball team.

Probably done under the guise of travel also. Allow Denver to go to OU and Bama to LSU.

I'm still trying to figure out how the top two seeds had to travel across the country for regionals and lower ranked florida got a home regional.

The regional sites were selected prior to the season and were not allocated as rewards for regular season performance. It would be nice to have neutral site regionals like basketball, but many regionals would be held before 2,000 fans.

A regional in New Orleans could draw 5,000 to 7,500 fans with the way the LSU team has captivated the local sports scene, but not many others would approach that. Other than Alabama and Utah most of the other programs might get those numbers for an occasional big meet.

Outside of travel, does it really matter? It's not like they are actually "playing" each other.

In the semi final round it does. The top three teams from each group advance to the Super Six. So even if the fourth and fifth scores in one session are higher than second and third in the other bracket they go home.
