So even if the fourth and fifth scores in one session are higher than second and third in the other bracket they go home.

This has always been a fly in the ointment to me. Don't know if it has ever happened, but it seems like someone really has the potentioal to get the shaft here

Why didn't we host 1st round? There was a point where LSU aggressively sought such events.

Hosts usually rotate but I personally still believe your national seeds should be able to host. One, practically every national seed deserves/earned it. Usually your elite teams, which are the national seeds pack the entire gym without zero problems. Your big times schools which are your national seeds are also used to covering gymnastics meets, so the coverage will not be an issue. Florida, LSU, UCLA, Alabama, Utah all do a really good job of covering gymnastics meets so covering regionals is not a big deal.

I liked the Florida regional, their broadcast was split into 4 showcasing each event live so everyone could follow their team.

Still don't understand the point in rotating the hosts

Probably happens regularly to at least the fourth in one session who outscores the third in another. Going two deep might be a stretch, but may have happened on occasion.

It's known as a BID, requested by NCAA and offered by member institutions. Did LSU submit a bid?

Either the news release on lsusports.net is not accurate as they have Georgia 9 and Denver 7 or the brackets are not consistent.

A lot of the content at lsusports.net looks like it was written by first-year students.

If they're misspelling words and making grammatical errors on the reg it wouldn't shock me if they published inaccurate information about the brackets.

True. They should be held to some type of editorial standard.

The new design of the site is awkward to navigate.

Regionals are rotated around the country to keep the same schools from hosting every single year. The sport of college gymnastics, while growing, is not one with much parity. You can bet on the same 5-6 schools to be in the top 5-6 of the rankings every year with one or two occasionally shifting in and out. Utah, Bama, Oklahoma, LSU, UCLA, UGA, Florida are the ones who have been up there the last decade. They would be hosting every year. Rotating gives other schools a chance to host. I don't mind them rotating the hosting sites but they need to implement strict rules that say the hosting site must be able to provide a live feed with all events being shown. The competitions with #1 Oklahoma and #2 LSU only had one gymnast showing at a time and you missed out on a lot of the best gymnastics.
