I do not understand the logic of some tiger fans constantly looking for an I told you so moment rather than seeing how things play out.

There are a handful of posters that want to be right about how terrible everyone is. If they are smarter than the AD or coach or someone else that gets compensated well for making the tough decisions it might boost their self-esteem. The lengths they will go to compensate for their shitty little lives is nauseating.

but rather than be miserable, I'm going to embrace O and support this team and see what he can do.

Amen.

I really do not understand the folks who are still criticizing the hire. It's been six months. It's not like Alleva's going to wake up and change the decision. We get it, you are on record as saying you disagreed with the decision and your reasons for it. Nothing is going to happen this summer to change the premise of either side of the argument.

On top of this, college football is a game in which the players get to pick the school; they aren't drafted. So what purpose does it serve to run down a coach on a public message board that the recruits can read?

I mean, I understand why people were wringing their hands over Miles for the period from 2012-16. He was here long enough to make judgments about his performance in this job. Orgeron has not been. Anyone judging him is basing it off of his failings at Ole Miss a decade ago and his subsequent role as a "mere defensive line coach." Even if the O detractors are right - and they very well may be proven right - what purpose does it serve to continue to harp on it?

I get that fan is short for fanatic, but let's apply a little logic: it is in the best interest of LSU now that O is the coach to give him a chance, to be optimistic and to be supportive. If he fails on the field, there will be plenty of time to get on your soap box and say "I told you so." But until then, all these naysayers are doing is harming the program. The crazy thing is, they don't comprehend that.

Ahhh the old "if you criticize LSU's hiring of a career D-line coach as its head coach you don't support the team" line of thinking. Look forward to seeing this in every single thread going forward

Case in point. You do realize that this is precisely what you are doing, right?

Again, we get it. You don't like the hire. And you have your reasons and they are valid. But give the guy a chance to prove himself.

Much better odds though.

Maybe. We won't know until we find out. Keep up the good fight though.

Anything is better than what we had. I'm hoping he turns out to be the best coach we ever had and freakin' OWNS Saban his last few years and forces him into retirement early. :nana: :geauxtigers:

What exactly am I doing?

What do you mean "give him a chance"? It's not like I have the power to un-hire O or hire someone else. Do you think I'm not hoping for the best? I'm still going to go to every single home game and "support" O and the team until I'm hoarse 8 Saturdays out of the year. Is that good enough? Or am I not allowed to talk about coaching hires unless I like them? Just want to make sure I don't ruffle any feathers to where people question my fanhood!

Fine to be all folksy in April and May

But don't expect that crap to fly if we are sitting with 2 losses in mid October

So basically lower your carbs.

Zactly - Still, it's probably simplified but good for coach 'O' to inquire and see specifically where those carbs were coming from.

The sad part is that people can't move on and simply try to enjoy what is ahead instead of crying that the program is in the shitter when it just isn't (yet)

I couldn't even imagine being a teenager on a low carb diet, that would be torture.

I think it's fair to have concerns that O is the product of a 2 year coaching search.

It is also fair to expect grown men to quit whining at some point.
