Further the decision to go with one guy should have been last season at least during the season.

Is that not what happened?

Riddle me this Guilbeau. How do so many teams lose a highly productive QB through injury or suspension, only to have his back-up step in and play just as well or better. Recent examples, Ohio State & tAm?
well, to be fair, that's not a good comparison.

A&M pretty much sucked as a team, but in their system, any QB would average close to 300 yds. They throw it a LOT, and were behind a lot last year too.

Ohio St was a very strong team across the board, and suddenly Wisconsin, Alabama and Oregon had to throw out all the film and prepare for a mobile 250 lb guy. Given time, you can address that, but in the short term he's an advantage that can tip the scales. Hell, go back and look at LSU's 2011 win at Alabama. Saban had the Tide totally prepared for the Jared Lee offense, and it was heading towards a shutout. Les Miles put in Jefferson and ran the short-side option, and that one move was the reason we won the game, Bama had no answer for it. Note- Saban then had time to prepare for it, and in the rematch that play was totally destroyed.

I, in my right mind, have wished for injury. Major, too. I was intemperate in my youth though.

Never against one of our own though, mind you.

Pretty sure I was hoping Joe McKnight tore an acl as he tripped over some carpet walking into the USC dressing room, day 1.

This is simple imo. One guy did have all the reps for an entire season last year pretty much. If after all of that experience he still has not separated from the guy who seldom played, you must give the other guy a shot.

I don't read GG, but it's Spring for crying out loud. If there's a race for QB, I expect them to both be tested and I want them tested well before a decision is made. There's plenty of time to give more reps to one over another before the season starts.

AND, if there is an injury to the starter, I sure hope we've got a decently prepared back up.

This is the level of journalism that got GG's arse run out of Mobile Alabama all the way to Louisiana.

Claims that what the LSU QB situation needs is an injury (albeit minor) or a suspension to give one guy all the attention/reps? He claims they will both be underprepared at the beginning of the season if Miles keeps splitting their time with the offense.

This is click bait

quote:

he point is, if something like a transfer, or an injury or an arrest does not happen — and let’s hope neither of the latter two occur — Miles and Cameron need to decide on one quarterback at some point in August and just go with it. This talk of getting both ready is a cop out. Make a decision. They waited until it was too late last season, picking Jennings at midseason, and thus compromised both quarterbacks’ development. Do not do that again.

Pick one early in practices in August and go with it. Since you picked Jennings last year, and it didn’t work. Go with Harris this year and let him go.

Or as Cameron so eloquently said himself, you’ll have “two average quarterbacks” and another average season.

This is the whole crux of the matter. He did a good job in baiting people to read, but it was tasteless.

What we clearly need is an injury to make sure we eliminate the competitiveness

I don't know bout an injury but Les definitely needs to make Harris the starter and give him the majority of snaps with the first team.

Until proven otherwise, the offensive brain-trust over there have no clue how to use these young men. No fricking clue.

Maybe this year will be different, but I the same old shite. They still don't know who will start over there. Clueless.

How the hell is Miles 'splitting their time'?

Did he even stop to think that Miles might be giving them BOTH the same amount of reps with the first team? It would mean more reps of course. But, so what ?????

You can't be this dumb and not realize how you just contradicted yourself.

Let me help, if you give 2 guys reps with the first team, you are Absolutely splitting their time!

GG is dead on with the generalized statement that IF something happened to on of them, the focus on one qb with the first unit would be better for the team overall. (except for the loss of depth obviously)

Guilbeau likes to troll a lot. With BH at QB, no matter how badly he plays i expect something good on the next play. With jennings, no matter how well he plats, I expect something bad to happen in the next play.

I think this is the most retarded statement I've ever seen on here.

He's an idiot anyway. Which team decided their starting QB this Spring? It's really something you don't do unless you have an overwhelming favorite. You let both of them think they have a legit shot or not right up until one or two weeks before the first game.

I mean geez, I'm no media or coach, but this seems like the smartest way to do it. I hate when media brings up naming a starter in spring during a heated QB battle, I mean seriously? How long have you been following CFB?
