Although we don't plan on venturing too far, any areas of GB to avoid from a crime standpoint? I seriously doubt it but don't want to stumble onto a Indian reservation and get my wallet swiped.

You don't really need to worry about it. The only way the indians will be swiping your money is if you head to the casino.

Virtually all of Green Bay is safe. If you see a black person and he isn't scalping tickets, and doesn't look like a Packer player, you may be venturing into a questionable neighborhood.

I'm only half joking. There aren't a lot of black people in GB.

Chi town,

Just got offered Tix and found out I'm going two days ago. I have a few questions about the area. Would you email me at kcsull@yahoo.com?

Thanks

Email sent. I'm also happy to answer the questions here if you think they might benefit others.

There aren't many, but you best believe that the ones that are there are only looking to rob and/or harm you. Watch out for me as well. I'll be the 6'6 black man with LSU gear on that ventured out from the questionable neighborhoods to enact dubious crimes along with the other 3.5%. I'm talking serious skullduggery.

On a serious note, I guess I get what you were trying to articulate.

Not sure what my brother and I are doing, but I don't drink so I won't be visiting any bars. Maybe Brett Farve restaurant. Not sure.

Molly McGees is across the street from that. Looked OK. Going to Green Bay distillery to see Cowboy Mouth. Starts at 7. We are going to cubs game then heading up to GB. Probably bailing on cubs early.

Hey ChiTown, if you're still out there... do you recommend paying ahead of time for reserved parking, or finding whatever I can get roughly 4 hours before kick off?

we are staying on Lineville road in green bay north. I'm told 10 miles from the stadium. we arrive at 5pm on Thursday. any decent bar atmospheres where we are or should we cab to downtown or stadium and once downtown are the stadium bars within walking distance.

No need to pay ahead of time. Lots of paid (or free on street) parking in neighborhood around the stadium. When you exit from the highway onto Lombardi, start looking once you get to Lombardi and Ridge (the stadium will be in your face just to your right). There will be lots of yards and lots to your left. The bars on Holmgren also sell parking...to get near those just continue past the stadium on Lombardi and take a right on Holmgren.

Also check out Titletown Brewery and Hinterland on the West side of the river (Hinterland more of a restaurant and quieter, but they have some decent beers on tap) and the bars on Washington St. downtown on the east side. Hagemeister, Ned Kelly's, Libertine...and a few others.

Stadium area and Downtown (Washington st, Broadway, and Main st) are the places to go.

Though I will say, I love hitting townie/corner bars when traveling, so if you see any corner dives out there may be worth stopping in for one.

ETA: I just checked that area out, and there is a bar called Chambers Hill Bar that looks awesome (by awesome I mean cool townie bar). Also, there is an Anduzzi's right there which is a large nice bar (they also have one in the Lambeau strip and another location down by Appleton).

A group of us are flying into Milwaukee Thurs afternoon. Checking out a few breweries and have a reservation for the pedal tavern.

Heading up to Greenbay Friday morning. Gonna be a hell of a weekend

There is a sports bar/bowling alley called "The Bar" on lineville road. Decent atmosphere, but the action will be most likely in the stadium district (stadium view, anduzzis, green bay distillery near lambeau) or downtown (Titletown Brewery, Hinterland Brewery).

Gonna be arriving late after watching the Cubs game

Lots of us evidently. Traffic will be a bitch. I'm planning on taking the L from Central to Sheridan/Addison on the purple line. Heading away from downtown after the game towards GB seems smart. If any locals posting can confirm that decision or suggest better options, I'd appreciate it as we are just hoping that's a good call.

Starting at about 3, the traffic is nasty. Layer on the Cubs game ending around 4 and it's gonna be bad. Not a whole lot you can do to avoid it though.

I've got four upper deck box tickets if anyone needs some. Selling them cheaper than what they're going for on Stubhub.
