Kevin minter thread got me thinking.I honestly believe linebacker is the one position in recent history that lsu has had some good ones but not many great ones. My top 3:

1) Michael Brooks
2) Eric Hill
3) Bradie James

Honorable mention: Kevin Minter, Warren Capone (for old schoolers).

Eta: added late but worthy additions:

Kelvin Sheppard

On the fence about?:
1) Ali Highsmith
2) Toby Caston

In my lifetime (i'm 29):

Bradie James
Kevin Minter
Trev Faulk
Kelvin Sheppard

really crazy that LSU really hasn't had a ton of great linebackers comparative to the other defensive positions, of which there are so many to choose from

I'm sure Lou Tepper would say Thomas Dunson.

I think Ali Highsmith should be an honorable mention as well. 2nd team all-SEC in 2006 and 1st team in 2007. Given we haven't had many all conference guys at the position the past 25 years, that's certainly an accomplishment for LSU. Ryan Baker had a solid career as well, believe he was second team all-sec his senior season but actually was much more productive his junior season with 87 tackles and 7 sacks

Having a great one, every 2-3 years is just fine, imo..

Allen Stansberry

Probably not the greatest ever if I looked at it without bias...but he's my all time favorite LSU player so I had to give him a mention

Maybe not the best, but Mike Calais was a bad arse linebacker and one of the best to ever wear P&G. Tore his ACL agaist Houston(the night Faulk went off) and never was the same.

Mike Anderson early and Warren Capone later, in my fan watching.
