1982 Bama game at Legion Field. We won 20-10 with a suffocating defense. Broke an 11 game losing streak to Bama and put Bear Bryant into retirement.

love the reference, but this thread is about "forgotten" games.
The '79 USC game is anything but forgotten - it's one of the most famous and legendary games in LSU history.

Ole Miss 93. We were underdogs, it was freezing, Jay Johnson ran for over a hundred, they missed a field goal late to save the win. Hard fought, exhausting win that set up the big upset at Alabama the following week.

LSU 40 - #9 Washington 14, 1983,
In possibly the worst season in LSU history (only winless season in SEC play) LSU destroyed top ten Washington, outgaining the Huskies 477 to 340, with Hilliard and James both rushing for over 100 yards. The defense held UW to 28 yards on the ground. Washington was penalized 9 times for 107 yards. It was later written up that the OL for Washington was having trouble with a new technique employed by Pete Jenkins of having his DL-men spin around the OL-men. This led to many instances where the OL-men would have their hands in the backs of LSU DL-men resulting in illegal blocks in the back called by the PAC10 refs who were unfamiliar with this technique - now simply called a "spin move".
Jeff Wickersham went 16-27 for 259 yards and one TD, while Eric Martin led all receivers with 137 yards and a TD on 7 receptions.
If I'm not mistaken, we set a Tiger Stadium attendance record at that game with somewhere around 83,000 in the stands. Official capacity was just over 76,000. It was my freshman year, and I was living in North Stadium Dormitory.
LSU was ranked #13 in the preseason, and it seemed like we were going places after going 8-3-1 in 82, with the one point loss to Nebraska in the Orange Bowl. The season opened with a close loss to FSU (35-40), then a win against Rice in Houston and it still seemed like it would be a special season - until the Tigers went on to lose the next three games against Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky, and would go winless in the SEC. It would be Stovall's last season at LSU. Washington would finish the season 8-4 and unranked after going 10-2 in 82, with a final ranking of #7, and would finish 11-1 and ranked #2 in 84.
But it was still a great game to be in the stands for.

Great forgotten LSU games
Not really forgotten, but one of the most courageous efforts by an LSU team in memory was the 2005 game at Alabama. They were undefeated, ranked #3 and playing at home. They pulled out every ghost of Alabama past to put up one huge effort against LSU. Our team, ragged and exhausted from two hurricanes, multiple schedule disruptions and no open dates, went into that crucible and gutted out an overtime win. That was, in my opinion, a highly underrated performance by that LSU team, as was the whole 2005 season.

That 83 Washington game would have forever been the highest attended game before stadium expansion. Fire Marshal stepped in and the next season, student seating was limited. Up to that time, they would let anyone with a student ID in.

I loved that game. It even got a writeup in some east coast paper by a reporter who just happened to be at the game, not to cover it but just by happenstance, and enjoyed it so much he just felt the need to write a column about it. I tried to find a link to it, but I guess the article is just too old for me to find.

@ UF in 2002- LSU up 4 TDs to start 4th quarter and seeing the Swamp be completely empty on national TV... of course, Saban never pulled Mauck and he got hurt and killed the 02 season
May have been a NC team that year if Mauck stays healthy.
