great and in the hunt for a national championship at the end of the year.

I want to be positive going into next season, and I want to start being positive now.

We have a defense loaded with talented veteran guys despite losing Nevis, PP7, and Sheppard. We have are stacked at WRs and RBs. We have 3 legit QBs battling for the starting job with a new OC that could lignite a fire for the offense. Special Teams will be great as usual. This is a team that has all the components needed to win a NC.

i remember thinking to myself in 2008 that "it'll be all okay in 2011...jj and lee will both be seniors. how could that go wrong?"

That isnt necessarily a good component for winning a NC, most would want a solid starter returning to compete for a NC.

BUT, if you are to have a QB controversy, i would want it to be like ours. A QB who started all of last season and led us to a 11-2 season competing against a highly touted JUCO transfer and a QB who has started many games for us in the past. I believe whoever wins the job should be good enough for a shot at the NC

This.

At practice today you could see the difference in Jordan and the instant feedback from Krags. It was odd, but Jordan seemed to finally be speaking the same language as the rest of them. He was quick in the drills, deliberate and pretty accurate. From the short time we were out there you could see that he was listening to Krags, working on what he said and putting it into action. It was shockingly refreshing.

A number of positives can be said about jj, but "leading us to an 11-2 season" isnt really truthful IMO

Hey baybeefeetz!
Over the last three years I have made known my displeasure of Crowton. This past year, even with what I considered a weak offense that wasn't coached very well, we finished 11-2. With a new OC who will hopefully focus on the fundamentals and bring the offense up to speed, I am confident. Of course, the SEC is tough and there are no gimme games with our schedule. I sense that this will be a special year much like I did with 2003.

Reasons to think this is our year:
1) OOC schedule. Oregon and WVU are resume builders; Oregon has started slow a few years and game 1 is ideal to get them. WVU on the road = "premier win" if we get it, even if they are not ranked (major college team).
2) SEC schedule. Fla, Arky, Auburn at home. Bama on road with a new QB.
3) Experienced defense- especially considering Peterson had cramped up in crunch time a few times; this means our secondary will all have been on the field in tight situations already.
4) potentially potent offense- don't laugh. Ware and Ford had some quality PT last year. Ware made some outstanding plays before the bowl, too- go review the Vandy game and see his catch on the semi-deep pass up the left sidelines. Guy catches like a good tight end, not a tailback. Ford showed some serious breakaway moves at times. Randle showed he could be all-SEC despite JJ's struggles, and Shep, despite all the inconsistencies, made a number of big plays. Even QB- Mett is supposed to be good, and JJ and Lee both showed they are gritty and determined, if not great statistically. JJ will fight more than most people give him credit, and Lee came off the bench like a baseball closer a few times.
5) This year. This team knows they were not pretty, and yet went 11-2. Even with no changes to schemes, they would have to think they could at least equal last year's offensive performance and stay in games; and they've learned how to win games they stay in.
6) SEC mojo with polls- the SEC champ should be in the hunt for the BCS until further notice, regardless of what else may occur. No worrying about things you can't control; win the SEC and you're in
7) Les wins bowls. Big time. His lone loss at LSU was in a marsh against a slugger-team; on fast tracks he has his team at peak performance.
8) NOLA BCS game- LSU could beat a potentially better team in the Dome. In this case, the home field does matter.

That's my arguments on why we can win. And fwiw, I can see us losing a game and still making it (maybe Bama on the road).

Jan 2004 ... Jan 2008 ... Jan 2012

A Reloaded defense with an offense that scores!

Who's gonna stop LSU ... Only LSU ... & Injuries!

Ware will be an absolute beast --> Saban will be shivering B4 the big game

We keep Ware healthy & rotate him out frequently and get that passing game going and LSU will hang 50 on folks early and often

Alfred Blue ... Ford ... And we got another Hilliard on the way ... And Reuben Randle & Co tearing 'em up

The cat ... ahem Tiger ... will be outta the bag in Dallas in early September ... If you ain't excited about 2011, you ain't got a pulse!
