Whose fault is that? He should have forseen guys leaving and recruited to that. That is Paul's fault. I don't blame injuries on him.

Alleva is the bigger problem

It is nobody's fault. Last year the best position players just happened to be draft eligible juniors and seniors. I would say CPM did a good job of going get JUCO guys (Freeman and Romero) and freshman (Duplantis and Reid) that can come in and contribute immediately. Guys like Robertson, the twins and Deichmann developing helped too.

Yes, as Paul has unlimited roster spots and schollies to offer high level position player recruits who are willing to ride the pine and reject other national programs better offers?? Seriously, what you wrote is laughable. Every coach would struggle with that much upper class turnover and if there were a 100% hit rate on recruits becoming successful college players he wouldn't have much challenge this season to put a highly productive team on the diamond.

I really don't care for his inability to manage his emotions during games and is wound tighter than corkscrew at too many times during games, but players should know that before signing. If he tried to lighten up a little bit it could benefit a player. Pulling Wofford over with a 3-0 count last night was just dumb, that kid knew the situation at hand.

Did he? Wofford is a freshman that probably on 3-0 counts in high school last year got the green light and CPM was telling him to take two strikes before swinging which is the right thing to do in that situation.

well im tired of fielding a team full of midgets.
where are the mahtook, lemahieu, jared Mitchell, type of players. we only have 2 guys in the lineup over 6'1" (Deichmann & Romero)The rest of the order looks like a bunch of little kids. we're a team of punch and judy hitters that have to string 3 hits in a row to score

I'm going to avoid stating the obvious reasons why CPM is not one of my favorite coaches and just ask one question:

How much does he regret running off Zardon and Byrd at this point?

This years results don't bother me -- last year is another story. That lineup was loaded with pros. Not to mention Lange was arguably the best pitcher in the country, throwing to the best catcher in the country, with the best shortstop in the country, and the best outfield in the country. I know this is subjective but man I really think that team should have brought home a title.

Mainieri really hates Bertman.

Mainieri is a little man and has the syndrome.

He is in for his glove, do you really think nothing was said to him before he made it on deck before his AB? All that did was break his concentration mid-AB and give him more things to think about.

Regardless, it is amazing how long LSU has gone without a true 1B that has some size, glove and bat. How does someone start at 1B who will receive a large amount of throws for put outs and yet has a propensity to make E's on slightly errant throws that a legit glove guy makes routinely? That doesn't even begin to cover the hot shots a 1B will encounter which couldn't be made when he was tried at 3rd.

Mainieri gets a pass for 2009, but this is LSU Baseball, they fired Smoke Laval & Jack Lamabe because the teams weren't improving, I wonder how long before Alleva notices Mainieri's teams aren't improving.

We were supposed to improve this year?

LSU baseball recruits itself, I have a hard time believing LSU doesnt have talent. This is LSU baseball which is one of the premier programs in college baseball.

this isn't the 90s anymore. Yes, we're still a premier program, but plenty of other programs in our own conference have been just as, or more, successful the past 10 years.

Lack of 3rd starter and Mainieri's insistence on Jack Wholestaff are what killed us. Mainieri's handling of the bullpen the last few years has been suspect (and at times infuriating) but I don't believe he deserves half the hatred he receives around here. Par for the course, I reckon.

Probably not a whole lot. Byrd isn't even playing yet and I honestly forgot where Zardon wound up.

Lemahieu was never a power hitter, still isn't. Mitchell had a great CWS and had great potential, but please don't try to pretend he was a hugely productive batter throughout his career. He hit 11 home runs with the old bats his last season and only hit .327. He hit sub .300 with 6 homeruns the year prior. Mahtook is not the type player that just falls in your lap everyday.

Use your words.

If Byrd tears it up next year I'm sure he'll regret it, and rightfully so.

What has Zardon done since he left? Honest question. I remember someone posting his JUCO stats not too long ago but I haven't heard anything lately.
