Of course you are better. The USCe game, our rushing D held them to 130 yds, of which about 60 came on the last drive by Lattimore. No excuses...he brought it that last drive and we didn't stop him.

Not sure what game you are referring to.

Congrats on the win, but that simply means UGA doesn't have nearly the depth LSU does.

Difference between Georgia tech and LSU run game is Tech tries to get you out of position to gain yards. We run our 290 pound full back at your linebackers until they beg for mercy. You will be tough to run up the middle on, do we will run leads at the ends and outside backers for 3-4 yards a gain in the first half. That will become 5-6 yard gains in the second half. When your safeties creep up, RR will score one deep.

The long fake punt for a TD counted against the rushing defense stats so it's a bit misleading. We really held their offense in check for the first three quarters until Lattimore went off.

I think LSU's depth is my ultimate concern for the game. LSU is much deeper across the board than we are and it will be tough to contain all of those backs you guys rotate.

this is why i think that LSU is held to a lower score...the 3-4...we run almost the same style of defense against the run that BAMA does

On the converse, couldn't it also be a benefit to LSU having already played the best 3-4 defense in the country? Vandy appears to have made some decent adjustments vs UGA after facing Alabama the week prior.

Rushing yds allowed for each game for our 6 common opponents...

Miss-- UGA 34/LSU 148
MSU -- UGA 56/LSU 59
UT -- UGA -21/LSU 111
UF -- UGA -19/LSU 113
KY -- UGA 23/LSU 89
AU -- UGA 51/LSU 87

UGA allowed a total of 124 yards for all 6 common opponents (20.1 ypg)
LSU allowed a total of 607 yards for all 6 common opponents (101.1 ypg)

I think at a minimum you have to conclude that UGA's run defense is as good as LSUs.

Teams HAVE to try and run against LSU because they CAN'T pass against us !

Actually, what those stats really mean is that UGA is much better at rushing the QB than LSU is. It was all the lost yardage on sacks that really lowered the rushing yards from good to great. Luckily, due to early injuries forcing young guns onto the field, MLB is UGA's deepest position.

But what about that silly irrelevant stat called points? Georgia's Run Defense gave up 31 more of those annoying things

Worked out pretty well vs Bama--we rushed for 50 more yards than they did and won the game.

You can't just look at stats, many of those yards were during garbage time.

At a minimum, I conclude that LSU will beat that arse!!

Can't have it both ways--sacks are passing plays but the lost yardage shows up the rushing defense stat. So if you're going to remove fake punt yardage, you have to add the sack yardage back in.

Another post on a different thread brought up a good point. Miles plays field position football. LSU's defense often defends on a long field. Pinning their opponents deep allows LSU's opponents to move the ball 40+ yards and STILL not cross the 50. Therefore, opponents are never in a good position to score despite racking up more yards (see Bama game). Besides, aren't points the most important stat? (again, see Bama game)

Did he fly or run with the ball during the fake?

If he ran, guess what? It counts as rushing yards.

If you want to pull out stuff like that, I could go through each and every game and pull out one or 2 plays against LSU that would make their stats out of this world. Point is, you don't get to pick and choose what stats count and what stats don't.

BTW, you lost to Boise....so suck it....

I think LSU wins this, but no way we beat them by 32 points in the UGA-partial Georgia dome.

Georgia is a solid, if not elite team this year. It will be a nail-biter headed into the 4th quarter. That said, if LSU plays turnover free, I can't see UGA winning, though certainly I don't see them losing by 30+ points.
