Their upset over State today means we sitting pretty for next weekends matchup against them. Wouldn't it be sweet to sweep them and wind up a National Seed over Kentucky?

It doesn't matter what Georgia does today. LSU has to take 2/3 or better vs State regardless. Take 2/3 then LSU will be ahead of MST.

It matters because it allows us to only have to win 2 instead of a sweep

We are 1/2 game up right now. Whether we are up a full game or tied next week, 2/3 does it regardless. There is no scenario we have to sweep to win the West.

That play yesterday where the LF knocked the ball back into the park was awesome, and then Miss State didn't score in the inning

I don't think today's game matters to LSU in terms of next weekend.

LSU currently sits at 18-9 in the conference.

If MSU loses today, they will be 17-10.
If MSU wins today, they will be 18-9.

Regardless of either outcome, the team that takes 2 out of 3 next week, will be SEC West champions.

I think it would almost be more beneficial for LSU to have MSU win to try to keep them in the Top 25 in RPI. That way if LSU takes 2/3 next week, that would be 2 additional wins against a team in the top 25 in RPI.

I'm not sure how big of a deal a top 25 RPI win is to the committee, but LSU is currently 5-7.

Of course everything can change pretty drastically when referencing RPI. Hence our drop to 12 after a win yesterday due to all of the variables involved in the RPI formula.

Yes but another UGA win today would mean technically we would still tie for Sec West even if State won 2 of 3 next week (yes I know they would win the tiebreaker and we would still probably not get where we want to be with that but still significant.)

Lets really throw a wrench in things. What if we have a rainout next weekend and split two games.
Would a MSU win/loss today be better for us?

Eta: brainfart-a MSU loss would be better

Well that would really frick up everything. In that case, obviously, an MSU loss today would benefit LSU.

The important losses weee by A &M and AR. It gives us breathing room
to stay in the top 4 and not have to play Tuesday in an elemination game

KY and FL play next week, so hopefully one doesn't sweep since both have
the tie breaker against us by beating us 2 out of 3
