Although I've read your article, I know for a fact that LSU has had over 91,000 in attendance which I guess included special guests and such. I think what you and the article are stating that out of the 92542 seats in Tiger Stadium, that there has never been 90,000 seats occupied although there were more than 90,000 people in the stadium.

Even if the article is true, GA and AU 03 could have easily been 90k plus.
very true

A few schools count EVERYONE in their attendance (media, players, coaches, staff, concessions, police, etc.) Michigan is one that comes to mind.
To my knowledge, LSU only counts tickets.

On October 6, 2007 a new record was recorded when 92,910 fans watched as the #1 ranked Tigers defeated the #9 Florida Gators 28-24.[15] A record-breaking attendance of 93,039 was again set on November 8, 2008 when #1 Alabama defeated #16 LSU in overtime 27-21. The record was breached yet again on October 10, 2009 when the #1 ranked Florida Gators came in to Tiger Stadium and defeated #4 LSU 13-3. The attendance was 93,129

TIME TO SET ANOTHER RECORD!

Look people, this article was a shock to me too. I just noticed last year that LSU reports actual attendance for every baseball game, but never for football. I find that interesting. I hope we get 93K actual on Saturday.

do you understand the difference between paid attendance and actual attendance?!?!

That was paid attendance. Not the actual number of people that went to the game.

i corrected the OP, but there has not been since 2007 and that is documented.

There were some empty seats for the SC game, but not this weekend, I say it will be a full house!

That same paragraph goes on to talk about it being broken again at 93,000+. Neither has happened with actual attendance.
From that link comparing the paid vs. actual:

You guys who are calling bullshite on the OP realize that his article quotes AD JOE ALLEVA right?
And the artticle on LSUsports.net that quotes attendance records does not specify whether its actual attendance vs paid attendance.
Calm the frick down. Its not like the OP pulled this out of his arse. The numbers come from the athletic department for frick's sake.

I suspect that these scanners are missing more than the max. 1000 that they think they might miss per game. How would they know anyway?
They have to be off with their "1000 max missed". Maybe one of the scanners is broken so we're always off by about 2000. Or maybe the batteries die towards the end and people who show up after kickoff don't get counted. How do they even know what the maximum number of missed scans is? If they missed them then how can they count them? I don't care what that link says, I believe that there has been over 90k at least once per season since 2007. Just because you read it on the internet doesn't mean that its true.
And while we're on the subject, aren't all big games like this usually sold out? If the number that gets announced is only paid attendance and not actual attendance, how does that number always change if the games are all sold out? Did the ticket printer run out of ink? I thought that a "sellout" meant that every available ticket was sold. WTF? Does this count the "free" tickets that weren't paid for (ie. Recruits, Players' families, etc.)?

You could have manual clickers at a couple of gates and compare to the digital count.
This is a great idea. I would love to see the comparison between the scanners and a manual device. Better yet, put a manual Turnstile(sp?) at one of the gates where people would have to jump the fence to avoid being counted and compare that to the electronic scanners.

I am pretty sure the number above and beyond 92,542 depends on stuff like media credentials, recruits, coachs, visiting team on field credentials, VIPs, etc etc.
