The were discussing top 10 college coaches on talk radio today and said Les doesn't belong in the top 10. Had the stanford coach, jimbo , TCU coach ahead of him. Had les won that 2011 game he would be top 5 with no arguments. Even had bob stoops ahead of him. I sure hope he gets another chance because he is not respected as a top coach at all(by national media) around the country. The man has like 6 ten win seasons & NC, 2 SEC champs in the toughest conference in the nation. Fricking stanford coach and sumlin ahead of him . Come on Les we need another one real soon

My thoughts exactly. If we'd won the Mulligan Bowl, Miles would have the same number of titles as Saban would at Bama, and our program and head coach would be viewed very differently. Miles has a great staff in place though, and I like where we're headed.

Jimbo.....OK
Sumlin- beat him twice
Stoops - even Sabah beat him
TCU coach - beat him.

Les should be in....but barely.

I really think this season maybe the defining season for les. a 9-4 season and he becomes average according to national media. If he goes 11-2 with a young but talented team he re-establishes himself as a top coaches. They did have a point though top coaches dont let their teams play to the levels of the competiton. That is defintely an issue with Les at times

Sumlin being ahead of him an absolute joke.

There's argument though for a handful of coaches to be in front of Miles.

its the way Les loses games. Sometimes it just seems like bonehead, terrible clock management that comes back to kill him!

Dude... Stanfords coach is awesome. David Shaw is 1 of the best coaches in college football. Easily top 5. Hes arguably the most sought after college coach by the NFL. Hes great. And a better coach than Miles. And thats not a slight to Les Miles, thats a testament to David Shaw. Hes the real deal.

And Im not saying Les doesnt deserve that coach or isnt ahead of some of those coaches, because he is. But there is no reason for you to be bashing Shaw or acting like Les is a better coach than he is. Because hes not. At best, they are even. Les doesnt have the upper hand on him, thats for sure.

What has shaw done to prove he is a better coach? I really like shaw as a coach but can't say he has proven to be better than Les. He coached a Horrid game in the Rose Bowl too

Ranking of coaches is so subjective though.

how is shaw a top coach? he has won 2 rose bowls in a weak league using what harbaugh left him. I'm not saying les is better but to put a man in the top 5 when there are like only 2 good teams in a league. Come on .Patterson like sumlin has done nothing on the field but is a better coach

How is Patterson still in that discussion after not being able to hack in the Big 12 for 2 years now?

Patterson and Sumlin being ahead of Les is a joke. There's be a valid argument that David Shaw hasn't done as much as Les has either.

And Stoops
give Les another 5 years and they won't even be mentioned in the same breathe

No shite.

Shaw isn't getting the "winning with Harbough's players" line that Miles got, and Miles actually accomplished something.

Shaw's a good coach, and maybe is and will end up being a better coach than Miles..but he doesn't deserve to be ranked ahead of him now.

Agreed

None of those coaches have to navigate through the gauntlet of schedules that Miles consistently does. This is why ranking college football coaches is horse shite imo, most of that list has it absolutely made schedule wise. As much as Miles makes me scratch my head at times, I could argue he would've already led LSU to 2-3 more titles with the schedules Stoop, Peterson, Jumbo or Shaw inherit every year!!

...and the list has ZERO credibility with Sumlin on it, what a fricking joke!!

OH MY GAWD!!!!

You heard that on a talk radio show!!!

It's the end of the world!!

We will all be killed. It's over. I mean a radio talk show. The ultimate in truth and fact. Do we commit suicide or just wait for the world to end?
