Fastest 40 with 28.5 vert for a player Fournette's size is 4.81

Cook only jumped a 30.5 at 210 so he didn't blow it away either.

was coming here to post this.... if LF7 runs a sub 4.5 40, no one will remember that vertical.... if he doesn't, he compounds his problems even further, and will likely continue falling down draft boards.... very risky to run the 40, so he better damn sure know he can run under a 4.5...

I'd still worry about his stats though.

Actually, really. Huge correlation between vertical and speed.

eh, they both have to with explosion. you could say the same thing about the broad jump. Terrance Magee had a 37 inch vertical but only ran a 4.62 40. Mealy had a 33 inch vertical and only ran a 4.60 40. Michael Ford had one of the highest verticals at the combine at 38.5 and only ran a 4.5 40. Jeremy Hill is probably more comparable with Fournette in terms of size. He only jumped 29 inches and ran a 4.56. If Fournette runs a sub 4.5 40, this is a non story IMO

I don't think anyone is questioning his value after the vertical, but you have to be surprised at that number. Maybe sidelined by the ankle unable to train, but hoping its not his choice of agent failing to get him into shape.

That is surprising to me given his explosiveness.

Brees had a 32 inch vertical

Hill hasn't been all that explosive in the NFL

Exactly. It's similar but different, can be correlated, but not necessarily a predictor.

Who cares a about a vertical jump, it's a meaningless metric used by psycho draft Nerds. If I was coming off a high ankle sprain and were injury prone, I'd probably dog it too...also heard he didnt do standing broad jump, big deal.

Chris Mortensen?Verified account @mortreport 1m1 minute ago More Leonard Fournette showing up at 240 lbs, then having a weak 28.5 inch vertical jump are more red flags after a season with injuries.

In his rookie year, he had runs of 85, 62, and 60.

For reference, Shady had runs of 75, 54, and 53 this season, and had zero over 50 last season.

In the past 3 seasons, Hill has broken 6 of 50 or more, McCoy has broken 4.

When you show up at the combine weighing 240 I didn't expect much, but still 28.5 is below the average and embarrassing, and then he doesn't participate in the broad jump. Wtf LF?? Why show up?? He is hurting his draft stock.
