Anyone who wants to pass on LF7 because of his vert can go right ahead, by all means ignore 3 years of destroying opponents.

Don't get me wrong, thats awful, but ultimately so what. If you question his explosiveness, put on the film.

Good news for him is that if he runs a good 40 time, this will mostly be forgotten.

True, but I'd imagine there is a decent correlation

He is about to run a 4.6+

I am honestly starting to wonder what has he been doing over the last few months

I've seen him dead clean 330 like it's a toothpick. Doesn't make sense

McCaffrey and Kamara went high but Cook only jumped a 30.5 at 210 so he didn't blow it away either.

Dalvin Cook 30 1/2" vert isn't great either.

Cook only jumps a 30.5 at least.

Lesean Mccoy only jumped 29 as well. An announcer is defending him saying some guys just can't jump

Actually, really. Huge correlation between vertical and speed.

He may be an exception, but there is absolutely a correlation

Good call

quote:

Results from the present study revealed no relationship between vertical-jump height and 10-yard sprint or 40-yard sprint performance.

Found a few studies on it actually

LINK

quote:

None of the jumping performance peak powers and reactive strength were found to have a correlation to running speed times in absolute term. Furthermore, all jump height measures relative to body mass except reactive strength had a marked and significant relationship with all sprint performance times. The results of this study indicate that while there is a strong and marked relationship between 10-, 20-, and 40-m sprint, there is also a considerable variation within the factors that contribute to performance over these distances. This may indicate that, separate training strategies could be implemented to improve running speed over these distances.

Exactly. High clean numbers usually correlate with high vertical.

Those Olympic lifters have 40" + verts

This is true, but there are many exceptions

Hill jumped a sub 30 inch and had great breakaway speed as a back.

Lesean Mccoy has elite explosiveness and jumped sub 30 inch.

Cook was 30.5 just now as well

lots of stuff is correlated, doesn't mean its a strong predictor.

Chris Johnson has the 40 yard dash record at the combine and had a 35" vertical, which is very average.
