Fournette breaking Herschel Walker's rushing record is impossible right? Wrong.

I was bored, so I crunched some numbers. I found that Fournette needs a ridiculous 2273 yards to become the SEC's all-time leading rusher. Sound impossible? Here's what it would take (assuming no games are canceled) if:

No SECCG or bowl game (12 games)
189.4 ypg

Bowl game (13)
174.8 ypg

SECCG and bowl game (14)
162.4 ypg (roughly what he averaged last year)

SECCG and national title game appearance (15 games)
151.5 ypg

What this shows me is that he has a legitimate shot at dethroning Herschel which is almost unthinkable.

He can make it no doubt about it. Last year we lost the McNeese game and his lack of production against Alabama and Arkansas and add in the numerous runs called back due to a penalty he would have been close to that number last year.

I'm saying that if LSU wins the West, he likely becomes the SEC's all-time leading rusher with no "yeah but it took 4 years" asterisk.

#7 and EVERY tiger fan would take an avg of 100ypg right now in exchange for going undefeated and winning the NATTY...

If LF7 averages 100ypg, LSU won't sniff any kind of championship. He is going to have to carry this team in many ways. And, he can and will.

As for a prediction, I think he falls short, but breaks 5000 career yards. His name is mentioned with Herschel and Bo forevermore.

I would rather win the National Championship game, than get some kind of title like that. Both would be nice.

I suspect the load might be shared a little more this year.

Keep in mind that fournette is going to have about 150-200 less carries than Walker as well

I keep seeing this even though it is entirely unsubstantiated.

Leonard needs to give the people what they want: a senior season. Maybe pull a Thon Maker and pop up at some random high school so we can recruit him all over again. Five more years!

No he needs to go to the NFL and get paid while he can. Running backs, even of his caliber, have a very short shelf life. 25-30 carries a game isn't doing him many favors.
