#1 LSU 41
#3 Ark 17

12-0 West Champs

Who knew where things were headed? Seems like a long long time ago.

Here's to that great 2011 team. One of the greatest seasons I've ever had the chance to enjoy.

Man I miss feeling like I did that day. We knew we could beat any team in the damned country and expected to.

Imagine if Oklahoma State had made that FG against Iowa State. Who knows where we'd be today? Back to back natties in 11-12? A distinct possibility.

That team should have never had to play Alabama twice..... Yep best LSU team in my 48 years of being a fan.

This. LSU already proved it was the better team. Bama had all the advantages in a rematch. A slap in the face to LSU.

One of my favorite memories in Tiger Stadium...standing there with my son looking up at the NEZ Scoreboard with the large "12-0" sign up there.

Very much the same feeling I had while in the Superdome in January 2004 watching LSU's team do what I had only had the courage to dream I'd ever see growing up hoping they'd be somewhere in the Top 15 when I got to see the poll in my weekly copy of SI that was delivered to my house.

Great memory.

Best team I've ever seen suit up for LSU. Better than '03 and '07 in my opinion.

Eight days later LSU went on to win the SEC Championship.

2011 was such a terrible year for the naysayers from 2008 and 2009. All of those posters who liked to joke that you couldn't spell Les Miles without 2 Ls, those posters who said Miles would never again win the SEC W, much less the SEC Championship. Tyrann Mathieu was a huge thorn in their side those last two weeks of the year.

As ridiculous as it sounds, 1/9/12 was a glorious day for some "fans." They'd rather be right about their disdain for Miles than see LSU win another NC under Les.

ETA: None of that means Miles should get a pass for what is going on now.

Correct. One of the great college football seasons of all time. I really just could not believe it while it was going on.

Unfortunately they coincided with the best Alabama team since Bear Bryant roamed the sidelines.

we weren't going back to back in 12. the reason being was because Les didn't prep mett to take over.

We would be on a much different trajectory than what we are currently on had we faced okie state in 11. It would have been an outright arse beating much worse than 21-0 if we got to face okie state.

However 12 we probably lose once or twice because we didn't have mett ready to go.
