LSU fans will never forgive Albert Belle, Mahmoud Abdul-Rouf or JaMarcus Russell.

Forgive him for what? My comments have nothing to do with him as an LSU player. I respect everything they accomplished and did for the university while they were here. My comments are solely based on his history as a professional, or not so professional in Belle's case, baseball player. It's widely known that, while he was a star on the field, he was a complete jerkoff most of the time. It's no surprise that he's giving the Indians the runaround regarding this induction.

Sounds like Albert is being a horse's arse about it. You have all of July to go on vacation. What if they had planned it for August 1? Surely 2 days doesn't make that much of a difference.

He had prior engagements that he likely already spent money on. It seems like he gave the Indians plenty of opportunities if they truly wanted to honor him.

Actually it sounds quite the opposite. The Indians have been trying to plan something for 4 years and scheduling conflicts on Joey's end keep popping up.

They inducted him this past season, and he's said he's returned to Cleveland since and been welcomed by the fans.

And where did it say scheduling conflicts on Joey's end keep popping up?

Sounds like they had nearly the entire season to plan the event, and chose the dates he couldn't make it. I'll quote it for you again:

quote:

"I was willing to move it to another weekend, but they were set on July 30th,'" said Belle. "So I said I can't make it on the 30th. I told them July is the only month I couldn't do in the whole season.

LSU fans will go to great lengths to disparage former players they feel "slighted" by. It's an interesting and somewhat disturbing look into the human psyche.

I don't know where you're coming up with this stuff from, but it's funny nonetheless. Yeah, I'm holding a grudge against someone who played at LSU while I was still a toddler

I believe that the 90's was one of the best decades for MLB and Belle was one of my favorite players to watch growing up, but the guy clearly had issues.

There's nothing to forgive with JR.

Frankly, the other 2 don't bother me either.

But why would anyone be upset with JR? Who cares if he was a bust at the pro level?

He was GREAT while at LSU.

You would think after the years we've had to endure at QB for LSU, fans would give their arm for that type of production.

This is something that has always puzzled me. My guess is that people somehow tie their own self-worth to the success of former LSU players. When they don't succeed they feel slighted, especially if it's because the player made mistakes that led to his own downfall - which is partially the case with JaMarcus. Oh and people are racist too sometimes. It's all very odd to me. As if JaMarcus wasn't/isn't personally devastated that he was a failure at his own life's goal. I feel for the guy.

There were 3 other guys involved who also have schedules to work around and they've been in talks with Joey for over 4 years to get something set up.

What does that have to do with his schedule?

I totally agree but Google any past Jamarcus thread and there will be people shitting all over him. The dude played lights out for my LSU Tigers and that's all I care about. Whether anybody likes it or not he was one of the best to ever step on the field for us.

Maybe this is just my take on this topic, but who cares if he shows up or not.

When a player leaves LSU, I wish them the best in their future endeavors, but it really doesn't bother me if they fail at a higher level.

So many UT fans followed P. Manning and many even took his current team as their favorite. Certainly indicative of some issues there.

Belle seems to being doing well in life and good for him. I simply don't care, but am happy for the ones that do well in the pros because it can impact a young kids decision perhaps slightly to attend LSU.

I pull for each one while they represent the team I follow. When they don't anymore...well good luck in life and that is all. Is that selfish, perhaps.

Belle played for LSU during a rough time for Black Athletes.
I understand his frustration.
I wish all LSU athletes well.
I hope his kids are as intelligent and athletic as he with a little less volatility.

Belle is a well known psycho. Those attacking him and those knighting for him, WGAS really?
