He had a QB consultant singing his praises...coaches listen to these guys like they are GOD. Remember coming out of the Elite 11 Brennan was #8 ranked QB in that Elite11 class. Hear how others have faired
#1 Hunter Johnson- Transfer out of Clemson to Northwestern
#2 Tua- One game wonder so far
#3 Tate Martell-Back-UP
#4 Davis Mills- Back-Up
#5 Dylan McCaffrey - Back-UP
#6 Jack Sears- Back-Up beat out by TRue Freshman at USC
#7 Jake Fromm- Best of Bunch so far
#8 Myles Brennan
As you can see the elite 11 which is run by so called evaluators of QB talent... not too many Home Runs in this class

He completed just one of his eight passing attempts for 11 yards. Most of his passes fell short of the intended receiver, as did the two interceptions. So saying he had a bad spring game is a massive understatement.

All those guys were true freshmen last year. A little premature to say none of them will be home runs. Your post has merit as Elite 11 doesn't mean they'll translate to good QBs, but using the guys who were freshman last year isn't the best way of supporting your argument. But honestly, the success rate isn't really any different than star ratings. Typically among Elite 11s, there are several great college QBs, a few marginal, and a few that fall off the map.

I know the consultant who was singing his praise....just saying maybe having a QB coach who can evaluate talent is better than listening to da consultants...

The real tragedy is this kid could be at an Ivy getting a free world class education.
The Ivy League doesn't offer scholarships of any kind. Was he poor enough to get full financial aid?

Scott was a late offer because we had an available scholarship and hadn't signed a QB in the class. Had that not been the case, it wouldn't have mattered what said "consultant" said about him, he wouldn't have had an offer from LSU in the first place. We didn't offer him until late January and he committed about a week later a few days from NSD. The rest of our highly rated guys like Brandon Harris had offers from everyone. I do agree that we haven't been the best at evaluating high school talent at the QB position, but we haven't exactly developed QBs well either. We have had far too many QBs never get better while with the program. I don't care if they weren't as talented as expected, not improving shouldn't happen at the rate it has at LSU.

Developing QB's....you think Nick developed TUA ? Smart develop Fromm?...u either got it or you don't simple as that...we developed Fournette? There's only so much you can do with so called elite athletes ..they have been coached up since 12 yrs old some sooner ....You think Dennis Shaver is going to develop Armand Duplantis into the world record holder in the Pole Vault? You get a good quarterback and receivers with decent running game we can win and win big with our defense.

I guess coaches aren't needed then?

Talent can only take you so far. There are plenty of guys with worlds of talent but either don't have it mentally or haven't been coached-up to fine tune their game to go from just raw talent to a polished, D1 QB.

This is a very short-sighted position to take.

Coaching staffs are rarely wrong if a QB is just kinda meh, they generally aren’t getting screwed
Jennings
Harris
Scott
Narcisse

A good QB will separate themselves

Because obviously they just mask athletic schollies as academic ones or grants for minorities.

I know a guy that had like a 3.7 in HS and a ~1400 on his SAT that went for almost completely free to Princeton to play basketball.

I have an all american Baseball player at Penn right now... they dont give athletic scholarships... its all done through endowments/Grants/Academic Schollys/etc... anything they can do, they do...

Were they international students or Asian-American and Indian-American?

For what it’s worth, international students do not receive minority status and both Asian-American and Indian-Americans are not considered “under represented” in American academics. So, their “minority/non-minority” statuses were the exact same as yours.

The Ivys would tell you that they don't offer "scholar-ships" as all their students are "scholars." However, they offer financial aid to "needy" applicants who are accepted.

Of course, Ivys want excellent athletes for their teams. Those who gained admission would get a grant/aid package to make schooling affordable, even free.

Most Ivies have a policy that if the student can get in the school, they will provide scholarships, grants or loans sufficient to permit that student to enroll and graduate, no matter how little income he or his parents may have. That applies to athletes who are admitted, as well.
So , yes, athletes often get scholarships. Not athletic scholarships.

So, you are telling me that a player that was recruited mainly as a position player, was not developed as a QB by Mississippi State?

And every single player that is playing college football was "pretty good" in high school.
