I didn't think it was actually going to work as well as it did.

Thank you sir

Unfortunately, backup QB's don't get much playing time even when games are well in hand.

I would think that giving them an opportunity to get PT would help with development.

Plus, iirc no one did great for LSU in that game. It wasn't just Harris. There were dropped passes, run often stopped short, and the defense wasn't gelled.

have you heard the joke about the QB that rated out at 96th out of 123 FBS QB's?

AJ seems like a great guy. But he just isn't effective as a QB at this level.

I think everyone can agree unless the QB position improves, the LSU offense will be in trouble again.
I agree that Harris has the better arm and is quicker and faster than AJ. The last two attributes Harris has over AJ is that he is much smaller.

I truly believe Harris will get a chance next year. He may not start the first game, but he will get a chance.
My biggest fear is that Harris might not be better than AJ. If that is the case, then LSU has the small guy from TX with few stars and limited offers to perform as a true freshman...not a good combination.

Yes very similar to jenning's performance against New Mexico St. When Harris came in and scored a touchdown on 7 possessions.

I'm convinced that if our first game had been against lesser competition and Harris had started, we'd have a passable QB already.

Oh you mean his first start in a college game on the road vs a top 10 team that has been bested by LSU for years?

Yeah I remember it. Do you remember cringing while watching our offense for EVERY GAME THIS SEASON

Do you recall how LSU scored? LSU ran the ball effectively for 3 plays in a row with Leonard Fournette. Then LSU ran a play action pass on which Harris rolled out. Harris found a wide open Malachi Dupree for a 52 yard gain to the Auburn 1 yard line. Harris threw the ball late, and he underthrew what should have been an easy touchdown pass. Other than that Harris completed 2 of 13 attempts for 6 yards.

It wasn't just that Harris made bad plays. It was obvious he did not know what to do on some of the plays. If you don't know your assignments you won't play. Harris showed he wasn't ready to play against Auburn. I trust the coaches did not see enough from him in practice to think he deserved to play after Auburn.

So it's okay for Jennings to be horrible against every team, specially inferior teams like new Mexico state? But if harris has one bad half on the road against Auburn he should never play again? That is the most stupid thing I have ever heard of.

same thing happen to LEE i few years back, lead LSU to 8-0,has a bad first half again bama, doesn't see the field again,Jefferson shouldn't have been back on the team,JEFFERSON and JENNINGS about the same, jennings did not improve any from first game to last,PLAY harris it could only get better...

I have never seen one poster that wanted Jennings to start. none. zero. nada. zilch. yet there were many posters that decided that since he was starting, the coaches felt he gave us the best chance to win. so just because there were those that feel the coaches know best you completely twist their opinions and aver that these posters WANTED JENNING TO START. we aren't that stupid man.
