Miss State > Troy > Florida > Syracuse > Brigham Young

LSU will get back to reality vs Auburn in Tiger Stadium. Frankly I'm scared if Etling doesn't improve

That's the problem with a growing core in our fanbase. They accept mediocrity now.

He inherited a team that averaged almost 4 losses a year over the last 4 or 5 seasons. With no depth at the offensive or defensive line positions.

Seriously. We were already in a downward spiral prior to him becoming head coach.

One can only be disappointed for so long before he accepts the fact that we haven't competed for a championship since we got curb stomped by bama in new orleans.

It really is profound when you think about it - 6 guys on NFL rosters - Adams, White, Beck, Riley, Godchaux, and Neal AND Key who still has not made much of an impact this year as compared to last season....
New starters, many SO/FR everywhere on our D

Exactly! Three true FR played a majority of the game tonight. While they got beat some times they also pushed that line and opened some holes when we needed some yards. They are only going to get better.

O did not inherit Freshmen he recruited and signed them. He inherited everyone else.

He coached the Dline last year. He didnt inherit these guys he just got promoted above where he was coaching

Yes, the cupboard was absolutely full when he got it.

I dont think anyone has made this assumption. We knew we were lacking on the lines and at wide reciever. Possibly a few other positions. Its been all over ESPN radio all summer in Baton Rouge.

LSU is not a good team right now. We have potential to be good, but aren't there. Florida is a horrible measuring stick. Auburn will give us a realistic look at where we are.

I'm hoping for small improvements each week on the defense and Oline.

I just enjoyed the game for what it was, a win over Florida.

O did not inherit a team that had to play 3 freshmen. He allowed that to happen.

Lac, Darrell Williams, and Clapp are not in the top 10 of most talented players on this roster. Delpit, Chaisson, Sullivan, Dee Anderson, Pettigrew, Ed Alexander... all more talented than those 3.

The board is probably happy for a reprieve from melting.

We'll be back at it after Auburn, I promise. This was a battle of depleted and just plain bad teams. I'm glad we came out on top, but we're not all of a sudden good. I do find hope in the fact that O and crew were able to get the guys to fight for this with all the negativity this week.

Hopefully he'll be able to do it again after Auburn.

While O didn't inherit a "team with no talent", he also didn't inherit a particularly talented team either. Today our offense had 3, count em, 3 true freshman playing, including both tackles. Talented teams don't have to play 3 freshmen on the o-line. We have only one really solid reciever right now, we have a qb that is average at best and our running backs are dinged up. Its not like O inherited some steamrolling offense. On defense, 2 of our 3 best players, (Key and Lawrence) are not 100% and we have too many freshmen playing big roles at other defensive positions. Outside of Lawrence, our other D-linemen are just guys. Unfortunately our roster this year is just not as talented as we have been used to over the past few years. I don't think O is doing a particularly good job, but its not like he's coaching a roster with Alabama's talent on it either.

Thank you. I get tired of reading the same tired bullshite all the time. People act like we're loaded at every position. It only takes a small amount of research to discover what our issues are. And yes, everyone spewing this same rhetoric needs to do a little research, because clearly they don't keep up with LSU football or they wouldn't keep making the same topic over and over again. Either start reading the damn threads or do a little research before you start banging on your damn keyboards..

Y'know, we've been putting players in the NFL for awhile now. We've also been recruiting top players for awhile. At least under Miles, that was the understood part; someone goes pro, so now we get to see the next future pro.

College sports is like that, you don't get to keep talent. The talk during the game about how both teams are struggling because they sent so many to the pros, that was a copout. If you send guys to the NFL, the next crop will want to be there, so they can also advance.

Look at Alabama and Ohio State. They aren't crying because they lost guys, they are bringing the next bunch along. That's where we were, that's where we want to be.

We have to clean out all the Miles crud first before we are championship caliber again.
