This team has the experience and talent that can match any other team in the country, but they have underperformed in "must win" games with 4 SEC series left. For people throwing in the towel and saying its too late to catch fire, laughable.

Series @ gumps: They are flat out bad. 2/3 would be a disappointment. We sweep with one game being close.

Series Vs. USC: National TV for 2 games, the box will win us this series. USC's only SEC series wins are against Tennessee and the gumps...combined 7 SEC wins.

Series Vs. Auburn: Great team that has swept Florida and just took 2/3 from Arkansas, but their ace is needing rest already due to past injuries. We will need to play like the team we all thought we were. Comes down to a massive rubber match.

Series @ State: Andy has them hitting. Or at least Rooker hitting. After seeing the way they "swept" the gumps I like our chances, but wins are wins. Tough environment, but we have been there done that. 2/3 IF Lange is vintage in game 1.

We also play the tourney, where CPM excels. If wins are needed for a natty seed, there will be opportunities. These guys didn't all come back to play like this; and negative feedback will only make it worse.

We heard all the optimism about football when Miles was coaching but in the end, his tendencies and bad habits won out. Just because you wish something or talk optimistically about anything doesn't man it will happen. You have your theories about how this season will play out and it may happen but I have 8 years of Paul letting us down in the post season to back me up. I have 8 years of piss poor pitcher management, cold bats in the post season and season ending losses Houston, Stony Brook and etc. It's not that we lose in the post season, it's that other teams are more consistent and look far better than us when the season is on the line.
Explain that to me and what Paul has done to change it. Then I may buy in your your carefree optimism simply because you wished it.

In the end, Paul will go down just like Miles. He will even have his blind followers supporting him and saying we are crazy, who is better and etc. just like Les.

No change = same results

This is such a lazy argument. If Les had had the same success CPM has had the last five years he would not have been fired last year.

Also since people discount everything CPM has done the last five regular seasons you can't judge this season until after the season is over. Way too many melts on her after regular season games from a bunch of people that say the regular season doesn't matter. It's what you do in the postseason.

It's basically over for this team. They just aren't that good. I am not saying they are terrible but they have too many issues to make a real run. Going into the year expectations were to have a deep Omaha run. That just doesn't happen with a team that has very shaky hitting and unreliable pitching. At this time just getting to a super looks like the high end projection for this team.

It all comes down to who's playing their best ball in May.

UVA's 2015 Championship team needed the last weekend of their season to even make their conference tourney.

I feel these next 2 weekends can/should allow us to gain some momentum going into Auburn and State.

Why do people keep comparing a baseball coach to a football coach? I don't get this at all. We aren't losing games b/c CPM's in-game decisions. It's not like CPM's offensive philosophy is holding this team back. I really think this team's struggles are mental and they have the ability to beat anyone. Bottom line is there are a lot of games left and this team CAN make a run. It's getting more unlikely but still possible. The pieces are there.

I don't think this is a crazy statement. But, at what point in the season (any point) was this team playing good enough ball to make it through a super regional?

In my opinion, we haven't see that all year...and it's not that early.

If this team turns it around, we will be seeing baseball above what we've seen all year. It will be a true change...not just putting the pieces together.

I struggle to find the strength of the team. It really looks like we have one elite bat and no elite arms.

Again if you are going to discount everything he has done in the regular season the last five years then you have no right to be here complaining right now until the postseason is over. Discount it when it is good but count it when it is not. You can't have it both ways. I agree this team needs to improve but he has earned the benefit of the doubt he will figure it out and make a run in May.

Every single complaint about CPM is valid for the most part. My biggest argument is comparing him to Les. Les won nothing of significance for the last five years while CPM has finished top 8 after the last five regular seasons won a SEC championship two years ago and a couple conference tournament and made it to Omaha a couple times. His record their isn't great and I'll listen to that argument separately but making it is an accomplishment of its own just like making it to a final four is one accomplishment and winning a basketball NC is another. I know we are LSU and we should expect greatness and I'm fine with that and don't want it to change. Just asking for a little bit of reality towards the situation as well.

I do because I have been criticizing him for a while. And you arent measured by your regular season accomplishments at LSU.

I didnt ask for it both ways. Postseason is all that matters. CPM's teams have not been successful in Omaha in a long time even when they have gotten there.

Reality is that LSU baseball is measured by the postseason. Paul mentions that all the time. Why the continuous moving target? Its just to stand up for him. Simple, we have sucked in Omaha and our postseason play has been subpar for LSU's standards. He knew what was expected when he took the job.

I was thinking of making a "Still on the Bandwagon" thread, but this one serves the purpose.

His post season deserves criticism and I'm fine with it. Just people need to stop comparing him to Miles. It is. It is not a good comparison. Miles didn't win anything in regular or post season.

wtf is negative feedback? I hope you aren't talking about the fans bitching about our hitting and our pitching. if you are, I just have one thing to say..."our players are pussies if they let negative talk affect their performance". the negative feedback they ARE INDEED getting is not being able to bring a run home with players on third base with zero to one out. that sir, is pitiful performance and has been a huge problem all year.

i'll be happy to dish out negative feedback. our pitching has regressed badly, esp in big games. our walks are way, way, way too high which indicates we have huge control issues.

so yes, I have thrown in the towel. we will probably make a regional and may even host it. imo, that's the very best we can expect this year.

and, by the way, it has been a characteristic of PM coached teams to improve as the season progresses. this ain't happening this year. I honestly do not blame him for this teams shitty play. our seasoned veterans, pitchers and hitters are letting this team down big time. right now, I think it would have been better had they not returned and we let the youngsters have the team.

For as poorly as we've played thus far, the SEC is so tight right now that we're still only 3 games out of first place in the west and overall.

4 series to go, 2 vs some bad teams, and 2 vs beatable teams.
