I drove from BTR to Seattle and I hate to break it to ya there is not too many scenic places till Omaha.. you have drive much further like into Wyoming and Montana to find awesome scenery. Like the other poster said the Ozark mountains in NW Ark are pretty scenic but I was driving late evening to see anything. If you really wanna do something along the way you can take the side roads and you'd drive thru a lot of cotton fields and corn fields. And the interstate in Iowa was absolutely horrible.

I would probably take the route that had the most Hooters on it. That is the best scenic route I can think of.

Nice to see some helpful info here. Pending a Tiger super victory this weekend, I may be making this same drive.

Google maps shows I-55 to St. Louis then I-70 to Kansas City then I-29 to Omaha.

Does this sound like the quickest route? Anyone ever use this route?

that's the way i went in 2000. 16.5 hours from the bay area [rolling]. The way back home seems like forever......

"Not true my friend. Get to Shreveport and head up the Western end of Arky or Eastern end of Okie and it gets pretty scenic. There is a couple of different routes to take. Just depends how much time you have on your hands."

I did some version of this coming back from Omaha and it was quite scenic. Unfortuately, our timing was bad so that a lot of the Ozarks portion was at night.

had a couple of family members/friends make the drive in 2003 and 2004. all agreed it was miserable.
