This is a fricking travesty. Surely we can do something about this, like remove the oxygen from the air around campus.

Probably left unprimed so it can be fireproofed or have some other coating applied.....

Weathered steel. The rust patina prevents further corrosion. Has something like 100 year corrosion resistance. I misspoke about the galvanization. It's been a while since I've had to us the knowledge.

I doubt that's a "Weathering Steel" alloy. That type is typically used in exposed applications where future corrosion control preventive maintenance (prepping and applying protective coatings) is very expensive and access is challenging - bridges, stadiums, etc.

I think we're just looking at structural members that weren't shop primed and have been exposed to LA's rain and humidity.

It's hard for me to tell exactly what is new and what is already in place based on your picture. Obviously that little jut out in your first picture is new but is that it?

Ten years after its grand-opening, the LSU Football Operations Building will be expanded and updated in 2016. The project will be funded by private donations to Tiger Athletic Foundation through the LSU Football Building Fund and will include expansions and updates to the weight room, training room, team locker room, coaches' offices and meeting rooms. The LSU Football Operations Building is home not only to the LSU Football staff and operations but also a weight room that is utilized by as many as 400 student-athletes at LSU. To better accommodate the needs of our student-athletes the project also includes a major expansion of space for cardio training. The new expansion, which calls for an additional 5,000 square feet of training space, will allow multiple sports to train and ulimately compete for championships.

FIFY

I guess I -completely- overestimated the Rant's ability to detect sarcasm.

I thought the title was a humorous way of giving a construction update. What was I thinking.

I can't wait to be on that job. My company is doing the low voltage wiring. I love doing projects for LSU athletics.
