Doesn't it have to do with the start of the school year? If I'm not mistaken didn't Oregon have like a 2 or 3 week practice head start on LSU?

A Hell of a lot of good it did them.

What has happened to the rant? You ask a very valid question, and everyone dismisses it. This question deserves a serious answer.

If this thread was started on a Tuesday morning, it would have gone a little differently

it is a dumb question. if you think miles randomly decided to start after everyone else, you are an idiot. the nc double ahole has very specific rules as to the number of practices allowed.

whether you do not like or do not trust miles, you are crazy to think that he simply decided to give his team fewer practices prior to kickoff.

think before you speak.

Not sure where in this
quote:

South Carolina, Florida and 22 other teams started practice Friday. Just wondering why we had to wait till Monday{or Tuesday] to start. Can anyone with inside knowledge tell why we didn't start Friday

He said anything close to what you are insinuating here

He was just asking for a reason, not saying it was a huge deal, everyone else is overreacting like nut jobs

According to the NCAA 2010-2011 Division I Manual, the first official preseason practice may not take place before the date that allows the maximum of 40 units before the first scheduled intercollegiate game. Schools calculate the 40 units by counting backward from the first scheduled game, with each day representing one or two units as outlined in the NCAA manual. Schools may not have more than 29 on-field practice sessions during preseason. The NCAA limits colleges in the Bowl Subdivision to 105 student-athletes who may practice before the first day of classes or first game, and colleges in the Championship Subdivision to 90 student-athletes. All schools must respect a five-day acclimatization period at the start of the preseason. During this time, athletes may engage in no more than one conditioning, speed, strength or agility test or one on-field practice per day of no more than three hours and one walk-through without gear. There must be a three hour recovery period between practice and a walk-through. During the first two days, only helmets may be worn. On days three and four, helmets and shoulder pads are allowed. From day five onward, full pads are allowed. Multiple practice sessions per day may not occur on consecutive days, and student-athletes must be allowed at least three hours of recovery between sessions. On single-session days, no more than three hours-on field is allowed, and on multiple-session days, no more than five hours on-field is allowed.

Schools can only have 29 practice sessios, teams tht utilize more multi sessions daily start later. All schools must enforce a 5 day acclimatization period as well, so it is just helmets only and conditioning.

Nothing to worry about. And to not know that everyone is limited to the same amount of practice time no matter the start is fairly surprising coming from any football fan.

Maybe if I wasn't eating I would have posted earlier. Sorry for taking care of my biological needs first. I'll try harder next time.

You do realize the thread was originally titled "Alabama started practice on Friday..."

OP was wise to change it but you can understand the reactions given our sensitivity to the Bama obsession.

Thats why LSU doesn't have two-a days with the same personnel. Wouldn't want to lose an hour of practice time per day. High school and pro have true two-a-days.

Les isn't worried. As long as he gets to taste that fine specimen of fescue.

my cousin works field maintenance, and his boss was fishing in Gulfport last weekend and fell off the boat and lost the keys to the practice facility.
the keys are double coded and need a manager to verify the security ...
yada, yada, yada... going nowhere, so I quit.
