Is this including last season in which Alabama's opposition was called for offensive holding (and accepted by Alabama) a grand total of zero times the entire conference regular season?

For comparison 10+ were called on Alabama in those same conference games.

Yes right after that study was picked up by ESPN and others. None of those penalties hurt Bama did they? Were all long after the game was over

Some ranter did a longitudinal scientific study of Bama penalties over the last decade which showed they were least penalitzed team and their opponents if they were a single team would be the most penalized each and every year, even when Saban coached LSU and Shula coached Bama. Also, showed that they average almost 3 holding penalties a game with out of conference refs and about 3 a year in the SEC. interesting right after this was published and picked up by some media outlets it changed last year. But they garbage stat penalties that had no impact on the games.

I had done this one a few years ago. Thing I found most interesting, was that the disparity between both programs remained essentially the same despite who was coaching either program. Now...that's actually really weird n this case, because here we actually have a situation where THE SAME EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD COACH was at BOTH programs. And yet, while at LSU, his team was penalized more heavily EVERY YEAR in comparison to BAMA...even when coached by guys like Mike Shula.

Even odder, is that even during LSU's two title runs...again, with two different coaches, LSU is WAY more penalized than BAMA. And even in 2011, you guessed it...still a huge difference. So even with a more experienced, better team...still the same. Hell, even when BAMA is sub .500 like in 2003 they don't get penalized more. Or in 2004, 2006 or 2007 when they were .500 or barely better...still more "disciplined" I guess.

Now...WHY this happens can be interpreted how you want I guess.

Hey, there is not a yellow line like that on the field, genius. That is only on TV. He is spotting it where the play ended.

The call may have been missed, but that is not a planned thing. It is what the official saw during the play, but they don't make calls based on how it would help Alabama. So many people who give credence to these conspiracies have never officiated or gave any clue as to what they are talking about

Good lord, you have probably never officiated or have any clue what goes on or do you understand the rules or mechanics. There is no plan to favor one team or another but I don't expect any rational thought her.

Really? Then why look behind him?

You realize he's the line judge, right? His right foot had marked "where the play ended." There was only one reason to look behind him...care to guess?

Yep...to find the marker. NOT the the yellow line you dolt, the actual marker.

Otherwise, the entire thing could have been done without the need of looking backwards.

At this point, I'm not even mad about the home cooking they get. I do, however, resent their need to continually act like it doesn't happen.

Fired on one call. That was a bang bang play and the ball was being bobbled. It was a call that could go either way. There was not enough video evidence to overturn it. Had it been ruled an interception, it would likely have not been overturned either. These plays happen at warp speed and you have to react in a split second. In many of you all's conspiracy minded world, the officials all get together to decide who wins or loses. How many if you all have ever officiated or really know anything about the mechanics of officiating or the rules and how they are applied? And don't say you google things. Read the book cover to cover and answer questions about certain situations or better yet, put on a uniform and try to do it. You would be lost out ther.

Totally ridiculous comments. Officials in their ore game do not discuss such

So...you're an official, right?

Seriously...you guys circle the wagons more than police or teachers when one of your group does something wrong, regardless of how egregious it is.

With that said, never mind. Officials are all well meaning, never miss anything, never EVER EVER allow personally held biases to slip into their calls whether intentionally or otherwise, and are generally the best folks on Earth.

With the exception of all LEOs and Educators, obviously.

Why does it need to be "planned" to be an issue? Couldn't a mere bias be enough to sway a game, which in turn to change a conference season which in turn could change the entire landscape of the college football world for that year?

This sounds like a ready-made out if you ask me.

Truth is, the SEC already acknowledges that allowing an alumnus of a member school to officiate a game involving their alma mater would be a bad idea, which is why they don't allow it. Now...given your rant about hoe pure as the driven snow officials are, why would the SEC feel the need to institute such a rule? Surely the moral fiber of the officials would be enough to supersede any biases they may have to aid their team if they were calling a game involving their alma mater...right? Or, is it only for appearance sake...since officials would never do such a thing but this move is to just appease the idiots who would bitch about having a TENN alumnus officiate a game involving TENN, or an Ole Miss alumnus doing the same for an OM game?

Truth is, I kind of lean towards the security theater answer for this. This is all about appearance and almost nothing to do with real worries of effecting games. why? Because SEC alumni are not banned from officiating SEC games, just the ones involving their OWN team. So, under this asinine rule, an LSU alumnus can call an Iron Bowl game. Because, it's not like that outcome could EVER effect LSU's season, right? A BAMA alumnus can call an LSU-UF game. Again...no far reaching effects there.

And best of all, the head of officiating is literally an Alabama alumnus. So...in the SEC's mindset, we can't have an alumnus call a game involving their alma mater, BUT we CAN have a member alumnus OVERSEE THE ENTIRETY OF THE OFFICIATING OF THE CONFERENCE.

If this was nearly anything else, we'd have had full on investigations into this. hell...maybe it'll take some other conference who feels they are getting hosed by something here that will finally step in and demand an investigation, or maybe some actual news agency will do some old school 60 Minute type reporting on the SEC and uncover what we've been declaring for decades...

Or 12 more yards were penalized against Bama vs. the Hogs..

On a better note... LSU (and I'm a fan of the Tigers behind the Tide) made Bama's meltdown week 6 and didn't even play a game... lolol.

There is NO question that the field is tilted toward Tuscaloosa. No doubt whatsoever. How does Alabama get so many La. recruits? I am sure it is all above board.

Neither was there enough evidence to overturn the OLE Miss touchdown that was called "touchdown" on the field! It was obvious! And at critical point of game.
