Couldn't agree more. From one paragraph I can tell the writer is an insufferable snob. Much like the average UT fan.

All this sounds great until you realize that Burrow was a fraction of a second from being sacked. Had that trivial difference been realized, then Texas would have gotten the ball back and likely would have won the game. Then the defensive coordinator would have been lionized for making the perfect call at the perfect time. But that fraction of a second did not elapse; LSU got the pass off and won the game; and the defensive coordinator has to read a sportswriter describing exactly why he’s such an idiot.

No, he’s not. I’ve been saying for two years, he’s a good DC, but Chavis was better. Show me a game in which Chavis’ defense got torched like that. Maybe towards the end when we had about two SEC-ready linemen.

At least they are paid to follow the game. The clowns on this board think they know more than the coaches and half or more still live with their moms.

Just one question, Scipio: How much money did you make in your last fricking college football coaching job ? You might want to give a small amount of credit to the Tigers offense which was just a little bit better than the Longhorn defense....Fantastic ballgame and tremendous heart on both sides of both teams...

Kind of glad to see that it isn’t just the rant that confuses quality of play calls with result of the call.

Not all good calls work out. Not all bad calls produce poor outcome. And mostly, results depend on a LOT more than the playcall.

It’s almost ironic seeing LSU fans defend the 3-17 blitz because roles-reversed we did it against the gumps last year instead of protecting the first down. And Tua killed us.

I love Aranda but didn’t like that call and I understand the Texas fans’ issue with that blitz.

In both games, the better O won.

He’s right. It could have been stolen. But that’s what they do. They steal... LSU won it out right... I’m glad the better team didn’t lose..

Not to mention WVU who put up 500 yards against the Tigers in 2011, but who were less successful in scoring.

Eh, that blitz call wasn’t necessarily bad, Burrow just made an unbelievably great play. It was well disguised and it was within a hair of working.

They got pressure and sacks on some blitzes and on a 3rd or 4th and long, a well-executed blitz almost always cuts the amount of time the QB has to make a long throw. They almost got to Burrow, too.

I understand their secondary was struggling, but that’s a reason to help them with pressure. Burrow just made a hell of a scramble and throw to beat it. Sometimes the other guy beats a good play call.

To my unschooled mind - this is what I say - and still see on replay.

No it wasn't. IDK what this dude watched, but LSU's oline just outplayed their front 7. Their DB's got beat because LSU has better receivers than they have DB's. Fact is, LSU was just better. Conditioning wasn't as big a factor as being acclimated to those weather conditions. LSU's 2003 national championship team faced a similar situation and they were cramping and getting IV's throughout the game, that's not physical conditioning (nobody could ever make me believe a Nick Saban team wasn't conditioned) it's not being acclimated to those conditions. By the 4th quarter both defenses were feeling the effects of the heat. At least their DC tried blitzing and brought some different packages from his front 7. Aranda just rushed 4 all night. So, your damned if you do and damned if you don't. The fact remains, our oline did a great job and our receivers got open consistently. We have better DB's, we have better dline and we have a better oline than them. LSU just has better players and better coaches, but that doesn't mean theirs ain't no good, as this guy seems to suggest.

I was wondering why you put Stearns on Jefferson on that play myself. It’s definitely a mismatch

I'm sorry but you at least drop the spy into coverage. He's not gonna beat the blitz on his feet and run for 17 yards most likely .if that guy drops into the middle of the field but not as deep then burrow may not throw the ball there

Yet not as dominating as the LSU offense and Burrow.
