I am going to make $ off people stupid enough to think Texas is going to win that game.

Texas is a really good team with a potentially elite quarterback. Anyone who doesn't think the Horns can win is deluded. I've got no problem with Feldman picking a really good team to beat another really good team.

But this game isn't 2016 Wisconsin and it's not 2011 Oregon. It's 2019 Texas. But I will give Orgeron credit in that we have at least seen signs he can open up the offense (see the Fiesta Bowl). And I've got tons of confidence in the LSU defense, which has the tools to be the best in the nation.

It's just a matter of which team puts it together first.

even most of the Austin sports media is picking LSU (mostly because UT lost basically their entire D). Yes they beat Ga by 7 but we beat Ga by 20

I have a different perspective here in Austin - They are extremely confident they will win this game! with that being said I am sitting right behind the Texas bench with UT fans and cannot wait for the melt. Tigers by 10

3 retuning starters on defense is a problem for them.

A big problem.

This anecdote is going to get beaten into the ground between now and 9/7.

Personnel wise I like LSU but UT is a good team and LSU will have to navigate thru the usual pitfalls of an early season true road game.

Its also a bit misleading. With the exception of a couple positions on defense, most of their starters this year played a lot of snaps last year as backups. And their recruiting has improved over the last couple years, so there will be a lot of talent on their defense.

Their qb reminds me a lot of Burrow. He is a real gamer and a very physical kid. Outside of La, most people nationally would give Texas the advantage at qb in this game.

Anyone on either side guaranteeing a a win in this game is just guessing.

To your point, I like LSU to win because we have a more experienced defense. But there is game experience on the Texas side too.

Cornerback is the big difference. With their young corners, Texas has less options on defense. LSU can send their safeties more and take more chances on defense, leaving Fulton and Stingley in single coverage.

It will be a baptism by fire for Stingley, Texas is more likely to go after him than Fulton.

Dear 8lb 6oz baby Jesus please let this happen.

Texas doesn’t score more than 10, dem Tigahs by touchdowns.

I also recall that we hardly had any health DTs in that game and they gouged us running the ball.

One thing I’ve learned about this board is the amount of revisionism is sky high.

Wisconsin went 42 for 134 and 1 TD. That was their 3rd worst rushing game of the season.

...and dominated Georgia more than Texas did, if that is part of his rationale.

Like what we did to UGA as well? And what about the fact we bring back more players who actually played in that game?

Texas will rely on their safeties to roam. Unproven at LB.

two very good RB’s

Did he really say this? Because I am pretty sure that most Texas fans believed RB was a weakness of their's last year...

That led me to go look it up, and yeah. Nobody had more than 700 yards rushing. Their top RB is even leaving. So they are returning 2 RBs; a guy that went for 683 on 133 carries (5 YPC) and a guy that went for 153 on 42 carries (3.6 YPC). If thats one of the reasons I should fear them, then I just got way more confident.

I personally think we're gonna give Tom Herman a big ol cockmeat sandwich to munch on, but maybe that's just me.

The biggest difference from 2016 is we have a home game the week before. Had we had that we beat Wisconsin (well, if the coaches made the proper changes which is another thread)
