I feel you, Ive always said "I am only asking for 8-9 Saturday afternoons/evenings a year where I have zero obligations".

My thing is, people just need to get over themselves. Stop bitching at people for planning fall weddings, if you don't want to go, don't go. If they are going to be THAT upset you didn't go, then simply tell them why you aren't going. Maybe I'm selfish, but there are only a handful of people where their plans can derail my plans and they aren't getting married anytime soon.

You led with and f bomb and said it's frustrating. I'd call that making a fuss.

Add holidays and festivals(jazz, voodoo, essence) if you're in the New Orleans area. Possible playoff games for the Saints. Sugarbowl. Believe me I weighed my options.

Yea, I bartended a wedding back in 09. The day of the Florida game. People were leaving the reception and the free booze to go down to the hotel bar to catch some of the game.
Also bartended one, earlier that year in the spring, that was just as bad. It was the day we played UNC in the NCAA's.

Well I apologize if you took it that way, but I have been victimized by multiple fall weddings on important gamedays before and I guess I just have a lot to say on the subject.

Perhaps I was a little ranty there.

Agree, and disagree. You run that risk, really rather LSU is in or not, when scheduling your wedding the first weekend of the NCAA tournament.

That's one weekend in addition to the football season. I bet all of us in LA still also would add Mardi Gras too. I don't think any of us want to decide between a Mardi Gras or football season wedding.

I tried this to the best of my ability. But try to avoid NBA playoffs, March Madness, NFL, College Football, CWS, MLB Playoffs, Daytona 500, hurricane season, holidays and festivals.

Mine was November 6th, 2004. Bye week. Then after the reception we all watched Clemson drum Miami.
Now that's how a fall wedding is done.

More often than not I'm in the wedding and I just can't not go. The only one I wasn't in was for someone very close and I just had to make it for him. Tough decisions man
