Nah. DJ should have never been away from the bag. Give the umps a chance to make a bad call and they often will. DJ's fault even though he was safe.

Even if DJ stayed on the bag and never got off, the Irvine players would have still ran the play jumping up and down and the ump still would have called him out.

Yep. The whole thing came down to reaction....irvine acted like they got him, DJ acted normal and like WTF, and the ump (the one that's supposed to be watching and seeing trough irvine's theatrics) ...wasn't

I really thought a riot was gonna break out at the box. I remember the tension in the air was nuts. I really really thought someone was gonna run and the field and kill the ump.

The main thing that I take from that video is how dead the new Box is in comparison.

I do agree the old box felt a little more intimate and rowdy, but the new Box gets pretty rowdy itself...it just hasn't had as many opportunities in its history just yet.

Right field (and Admin building) at the old box kinda "closed" the stadium in

Hard to complain about the new box tho....it's nicer than just about everyone's ...they shoulda done seats, not bleachers, down the lines tho IMO and need to co tinue wrapping the OF with seats or a deck or something all the way to batters eye. Bleachers are fine in the OF but they need to be continuous in the OF, no gaps.

I don't mind the ads on OF wall at all, but they also IMO need to "class up" the backstop behind home plate....a simple "LSU" or "home of college baseball" next to NCAA logo would suffice, no cluttery cheap looking ads there

I also prefer seats to "wrap" the foul poles...just think it looks better, rather than a big empty space around the foul poles

That play still gets my blood pressure up, but I watched game 2 again and still gives me goosebumps. If that doesn't fire you up nothing will. What a way to send out the old Box. BTW those umps were POS, they wouldn't give Mitchell TO when he clearly asked very early.

I bet the anteaters still have nightmares about the old Box after games 2&3.

Did u not read the sentence immediately prior to the one you quoted?

It's a lot easier and funnier/interesting to watch now knowing what we did to them in games2 and 3....love PM and Javi reactions.

Furthermore, it was one of the most controversial calls in LSU baseball postseason history that we're talking about here.

The part that makes this so horrendous is that the 2nd base umpire was not even looking in the direction of 2nd base.

A college umpire KNOWS if you don't see it....ask for help. If no one else saw it, it didn't happen.

Not sure if this umpire is still in the game. If he is it's a damn shame.
