But, there is a certain significant portion of the black culture -- let's call it a subculture if it makes you feel better -- that thinks ebonics and speaking poor English is some kind of cultural element to foster and embrace. As someone who has seen a close relative given grief because he is black and 'speaks like a white guy' that part of the subculture is annoying, hindering, and needs to go away. There, I said it.
