Embarrassment of riches - Sleeping giant fully realized by "triumvirate"

Before leaving Michigan State for LSU, I recall discussion about Saban researching databases on recruits and per-capita NFL players in each of the states, and it was stated that that is why he felt LSU was the place to be. Other coaches had also long-time stated that LSU was a "sleeping giant" (Bowden and others who raided New Orleans and Louisiana HS's in the 80's and 90's).
We have to give credit to DiNardo for initiating the process of "bringing back the magic" with Kevin Faulk and others opting for LSU, which started the improved retention of our best Louisiana-resident talent, no matter whether he brought the magic to full fruition or not (and he did not, of course).
Saban, like him, love him, dislike him or hate him, took what DiNardo started and brought the retention to realization when he consistently garnered the majority of the Dirty Dozen within the Louisiana border, while enhancing LSU's ability to attract Southern/Texas and national talent to Baton Rouge.
Who would have thought that Saban's successor would be even better at attracting talent to Baton Rouge? Well, it is certainly debatable whether Miles' classes are better or equivalent, but I am going to say that Miles' has indeed raised the level up at least a half of a notch. Recruiting the likes of highly-rated Offensive linemen from places such as Michigan (Barksdale), and the top Pro-style Qb in the nation from Indiana (I know Mauck was from Indiana, but he certainly was not as highly acclaimed), along with the continued successes in Florida, Texas and the like, added onto the retention of the far majority of Louisiana talent, is just so great to see.
For years we knew the potential, and the DiNardo-Saban-Miles triumvirate TOGETHER are to be thanked for awaking the sleeping giant to this moment in time, where we really do have an embarrassment of riches on the gridiron for our beloved Tigers.
Saban is not exactly in a bad situation, but you know deep in his psyche he is still not at rest about leaving, no matter what he or any Bammer says.
Meanwhile for us, this is the golden era of LSU football, where 2012-2015 look to be possibly better ( a great offense to add to a great defense and great specials teams) - It is sure GREAT to be a Tiger !

Just imagine the teams we could have had in the 90s with the likes of Kordell Stewart, Warrick Dunn, Peyton Manning, Ed Reed and on and on and on.

Louisiana has ALWAYS had sick talent. Its nice to see it staying home and flourishing. I think thats the best part, that these kids can stay in Louisiana and go on to become NFL players with regularity.

I am not claiming an original thought, just talking on the rant for the heck of it. That is kind of what the rant is all about if you have not noticed, as the far majority of comments are reiteration or at least not original. you are free to ignore it if you choose. really, you should do so.

And the possessive form of Miles in this case is Miles'...not Mile's. If his name was Mile, you would be correct with Mile's.
Good post by the way.
Good post by the way.

the 90's were brutal, but for some of us there was a silver lining, as in getting good season tickets in the mid-late 90's since they became available due to the sucky teams and coaching carousel that preceded them...

Yeah, if we'd had Kordell handing off to Marshall Faulk, and Peyton handing off to Warrick we might still have Curley.

Do you post exclusively from a phone? With as much as you have been posting, the excessive grammatical errors in your posts bothers me.
No intent to offend, just genuinely curious.

Ignoring the duo of Kelvin Sheppard and Perry Riley out of Stone Mountain (and we got a lot of mileage out of that 2-for-1 special), we've nabbed, outside of our natural recruiting area an arguable #1 player in Michigan (Barksdale), South Carolina (Montgomery), Ohio (Ware) and now Indiana (Kiel), as well as a clear NFL prospect from South Florida (Peterson).
Throw in guys like Rickey Jean-Francois, Alex Hurst, Williford, Kevin Minter, Gore, Boone, Copeland, all three QBs from last year's class - all from outside our traditional recruiting area of Louisiana, Houston and Tyler, Texas, and Mississippi. I remember getting a few guys here and there under Saban (Adrian Mayes, Xavier Carter, Dwayne Bowe, Barrington Edwards), but not the number and overall quality we are now.

It's an abomination how little credit DiNardo gets on here, IMO generally from the younger fans who have no concept of what it was like before he came and started the uptick or from ignorant older fans.
