He'll get busted for roids if he gains 20# of muscle this offseason. Thompson is already listed at 221#'s.

Mouton played better as the season went but definitely struggled early. Once again begs the question, if Ducre was better than Mouton at FB, wouldn't he have played more, if Moutons a better FB, are we just gonna let Ducre sit as a 3rd string FB for two more years and then back up Mouton his SR year, I'm not trying to be funny, that doesn't seem like getting the most out of his ability...

That's a possibility, but there is also a possibility that he is the lead rb his sr year ala Charles Scott. I agree with your point, but there is no speculation that White would be a starting lb at least by next year. Ducre is a straight line speed guy and I think that transitions better on offense where you can dictate rather than have to react. The coaches know best and I have no issues with what they decide. Thornton, Divinity, Riley, Voorhies, and Alexander will play a lot of lb besides Beckwith so any other guys that can help, at least on special teams, would be very useful.

Just throwing rb depth out there. Either White or Ducre would have a legit shot to be the main rb in 2018. I think it is important to get the right guys in those spots now. Who knows what will happen, but here's a look with White instead of Durcre.

RB depth 2016

Fournette jr.
Williams jr.
Guice so.
Brossette so.
White fr.

RB depth 2017

Guice jr.
Williams sr.
Brossette jr.
White so.
Toneil Carter fr. (potentially)
Helaire-Edwards fr. (potentially)

RB depth 2018

Brossette sr.
White jr.
Carter so.
helaire-edwards so.
2017 rb

No. There are only so many guys around who are 240 lbs. who can run and hit like that. At RB or FB, their impact would be very limited until 2018.

He's wayyyyyyyy bigger than Broussard. He's Copeland's size when he was a senior.

Ducre is @ 240. Broussard played at 250 and Copeland was 270.

Ducre looked very stiff in his limited playing time during the bowl game. I too was sold on his potential, but I think he is destined to be a downhill plugger at LB.

If he was too soft to play FB in a year in which we struggled mightily at FB, common sense would say he isn't going to work at LB. At least not in the near future.

Easy money I see your point but I just think by 2018 we will have better backs, we will never have trouble at RB, look at the names being thrown around already for '17. I think that ultimately Ducres talents will never be used at RB, overall as a team, I think we are better with DD at LBer, TNT Im with U man I see it the same way you do. Ive also heard rumblings from BR that there will be a shift away so much use of fullbacks, this could be one reason they are thinking about this move. If they do make this move it means Aranda thinks he can work in his system, thats good enough for me. I also think there could be a sense of urgency for this upcoming season, the coaches know this is the year for us to win it all or it will be a couple more years and Miles could be gone...this could be a little bit of an all in move by the staff, I think that's very possible

He's got a huge frame and worked hard to keep weight OFF to play safety.

He could easily carry 240 at 6'2" with a wide frame and long arms. And 20 adding 20 lbs of muscle in 8 months with world class trainers and nutritionists isn't as hard as you'd think.

ETA:

Maybe instead of "muscle" I should say "good weight"

Damn I thought Alley was closer to 225 like he was on Rivals.

Ducre was more like 245 his senior year in HS and looks to have added muscle. He's ENORMOUS.

Scary part is Ducre is probably faster than both. Guy was a stud in track. We can only hope he runs as well as Alley in pads pre-injury.

Bottom line, I think everyone knows this is the year so all the stops are being pulled out as they should be, I also think that Aranda has come in and looked at any and all possibilities to play LBer for him. He knows how to make it work, I'm excited to read spring reports, anybody know when it starts?

They are going to try to do what's best for the guys and the team, I believe that. Ducre is too good of an athlete to not get a look somewhere. We shall see what happens.

Given that we land Carter, he will probably be the starting rb in 2018.

I never said soft, I said stiff. He wasn't as natural running out for passes as I thought he would be after watching his high school film and hearing all of the accolades laid upon him. I think he would do well as a middle linebacker plugging holes as I said before.

White and Ducre at LB would be full of potential especially with the Aranda hire. We just need John David Moore to stay healthy, I can still see him vividly destroying Syracuse with blocks....

Yeah, I'd be really surprised if he can gain 20 pounds. He's already yoked up.

Guys trust me when I say this.. I'm from the same area as him and have played against ducre many times..he's not that good. He looks like a freak just doesn't play like it, he fumbles a lot if you watched him and played against him in high school you would know. A move to LB is probably the best

I believe you, if the coaches thought he fit the team best on offense he would stay.....I think there is a process going on now where Aranda is looking at every possibility, I'm anxious to see how it all shakes out, I know this, I've never seen LSU without RBs, I've seen us struggle with LBers alot

Has Ducre ever played LB? I couldn't find any film on hudl (although it does list him as RB/OLB)

White was nasty at LB in high school. His junior film is nice.

I have not seen Ducre at LB. I've seen White there, and he would start by midseason for LSU in my opinion.
