Two of my all-time fav duo was Ron Franklin and Mike Gottfried.

Honestly, no...but then I'd absolutely prefer the ability to remove the voice track from a sporting event and just have the same crowd noise you'd get if you were there. I like being there, so I'd prefer the broadcast be as close to the real thing as possible, and not as much about the guys calling the game as the game itself.

But yeah...I miss hearing good ones versus terrible ones for sure.

Agree 100%. Chills sometimes if I watch a video on youtube and he's calling an LSU/SEC game.

Faulk carries. Has 5. Has 7. Count it off at 10 yards

Grew up listening to Ron Franklin's voice calling the Houston Oilers' radio games and was always amazed at his wonderful warm, professional way of calling the games...."Earl Campbell has 5, has 10, count it off at 15." Earliest recollections of college ball is hearing Keith Jackson call games at my grandpas house back in the 70's. Seems like he was always calling an Oklahoma, USC, or Alabama game. Of course, who can forget hearing the great John Ferguson calling LSU games!

I do. There is always a noticeable drop in quality when LSU doesn't have the prime time crew.

I think Verne WAS high quality. That time has past in my opinion. Similar to Musberger.

Ron Franklin is my alltime favorite for college football.

Underrated color guy: Frank Broyles.

I would rather listen to two cats fricking than hear Verne and Gary call a game.

I remember Curt Gowdy and Al Derogatis doing the late games on Sunday
almost always the Raiders or Chiefs

Radio = Jack Buck and Hank Stram
On Monday night was the epitome of professional play by play and color commentary...

When Musberger first got started my dad, RIP, would shake his head and say, "His dad must own the network."
